8A Unit 2 School life Period 4 Vocabulary 教案 Teaching aims and demands: 1. Recognize and use nouns and noun phrases to identify school subjects. 2. Review and learn the adjectives about people’s opinion. 3. Grasp the opposites of the adjectives. Teaching difficulties and importance: 1. Grasp the new words such as art, geography, language, PE, science, useful, unimportant, useless, unpopular and so on. 2. Can give opinion on different school subjects. Teaching preparation: Small blackboard and the paper Teaching steps: Step I. preview homework 1. Grasp the meanings of the new words on the small blackboard: art, geography, language, PE, science, useful, unimportant, useless, unpopular .(Ask the students to speak Chinese, the teacher speak English.) 2. Practice. 1.Teach the Ss the new words on the blackboard .Then read the words in the box and match pictures with correct subjects on their own.(Finish Part A p23) 2. Ask the students to fill in subjects (Teacher can give a table on the paper. ) Art You can draw and paint pictures. You can learn to use the computer. You can learn about different countries, seas, rivers, etc. of the world. You can learn about the past. You can learn to cook and sew. You can learn to speak different languages. You do a lot of physical exercise. You can learn about the natural world through experiments. 3. Check answers with class as a whole. Step IV. Presentation(Part B) A: I think Home Economics class is very interesting. B: I don’t agree with you. I think it is very boring. Ask the students to use following words to make dialogues according to the above model. easy important interesting popular useful unimportant boring useless difficult unpopular Step V. Practice. Read all the adj. (Part B p23). Ask them to do the task on their own first and then compare with a partner. Point out that adj. are introduced, one using the prefix ‘un-‘ and the other using the suffix ‘-less’. Encourage the Ss to write the opposites of these words. fast pleasure healthy happy comfortable Play a game: One student say an adj, and the other student say it’s opposite quickly. (Or one can say a sentence including an adj) Step VI Sum up We learn names of school subjects and opposites of adjectives . Teacher can say: Today, We learn some school subjects, Art, Geography and so on .(encourage the Ss to say more). And some students think Art is interesting, but the others think it’s boring. Some students think Geography is important but the others think it’s ……. (encourage the Ss to continue). But I think all subjects in school are useful.
