教学过程
Step 1 Greetings
Greet the class as usual.
Step 2 1a
Ask the students to go through the pictures and the sentences in 1a .Then let them read the sentences aloud.(鼓励学生模仿方框中的例句对大象和大熊猫进行比较，以小组竞赛的方式展开，看看哪一组想到的句子最多)
e.g. The panda is 200 cm shorter than this elephant.
This elephant is 200 cm taller than this panda.
Step3 1b-1d
Show the numbers on the screen and let the students read aloud .Then ask the students to go through the sentences in 1c and make predictions about the blanks.
Play the tape for the first time and let the students finish the task in 1b.
Play the tape for the second time and complete the sentences in 1c.
Then check the answers and read the sentences aloud.
鼓励学生根据已有的知识将adult panda 和baby panda 进行比较。完成1d的任务。
Step 4 2a-2e reading
Teacher asks：What do you know about pandas?学生根据2a的词汇进行自由讨论，教师可让个别小组进行展示，看一看那个小组表现得好。
Then show the four numbers on the blackboard and then let the students read the passage quickly to find what the numbers refer to.
Let the students read the passage again and complete the sentences in 2c.
Check the answers.
Use the same way to finish the tasks in 2d.
Then give the students a few minutes to retell the passage according to the following table.

Sum up the words and phrases and read the passage for a few times.
教学反思
本节课充分利用课本的阅读材料以及相应的问题逐步培养并提高了学生的阅读能力，同时通过表格的设置，使得学生对所学的文章进一步巩固和落实，口头能力也得到了锻炼。讨论保护大熊猫的措施，也可以树立他们保护动物的意识。
