The First Period
(1a-1c)
【Teaching procedures】
Step 1 pre-task
1. Revision and Lead-in
Ask three students to stand in front of the class, and the teacher asks them the following questions as a reporter.
1. What are you going to do when you grow up?
2. What are you going to do next week?
3. What are you going to do after school?
The students will give different answers. write their answers on the Bb.
2. Say, The three students talked about what they were going to do, if you want to tell a friend what they said , How would you tell him ?Write the words “He said” and “She said” on the Bb .Say, We can use the words “He said” and “She said” to tell your friend like this :He/She said he/she was going to play basketball after school, then ask a good student to report what they said.
S1:I am going to be a doctor.
T: What did she say?
She said she was going to be a doctor.
S2:I am going to have a party on Friday night.
T: What did he say?
He said he was going to have a party on Friday night.
S3:I am going to do my homework.
T: What did she say?
She said she was going to do her homework.
Get the Ss to repeat this process with the other answers on the Bb given by the other students.
Step 2 (1a) While-task
1. Ask a student to read the four questions. Learn soap opera. Teach the Ss to read it times. Explain what a soap opera is.
2. Encourage the Ss to talk about more soap operas they know in English or in Chinese in groups.
3. Point out the TV screens in the picture. Ask one student to read what the person says in the first picture .Then ask another student What did she/he say? Help to answer She / He said she/he was having a surprise party for Lana on Friday night.
4. Repeat with the other pictures.
5. Explain: be mad at sb. means be angry with sb.
Step 3 (1b)
1. Read the instructions .Make sure the Ss understand what they should do.
2. Play the recording the first time. Students only listen.
3. Play the recording a second time. This time ask students to number the statements.
4. Check the answers.
Step 4 (1c) Post-task Pairwork.
First Ss work in pairs then ask some pairs to present their dialogues to the class.
Step 5Summary
Sum up the main target language. We also know something about soap operas.
Step 6Homework
1. Copy the new words and the target language.
2.用He/She said 将直接引语改为间接引语。
1) I am a clever girl. 2) I am having lunch at school.
3) I can dance well. 4) I play football every day.
5) I don’t like my younger brother.

The Second Period
(2a-2c)
【Teaching procedures】
Step 1 Pre-task greetings and revisions
1. Check the homework .Ask several students to read their sentences to the class.
2.Get a few students to report what their classmates or friends said
using the target languages learned yesterday. For example,
S1: I am fourteen now.
S2: What did S1 say?
S3: He/She said he/she was fourteen now.
Step 2 (2a 2b) While-task
1. Ask several Ss to read these sentences. Help them understand these sentences in 2a and 2b. Make sure the Ss know how to do the work,
2. Play the recording .Ss circle their answers.
3. Check the answers.
Step3 Grammar Focus
1. Review the grammar box by asking Ss to say the statements.
2. Explain: In each case, the direct speech talks about present situations and the reported speech talks about past situations. Emphasize the changes of Tense and Personal Pronouns between them. am — was, am having—was having, go—went,
will call—would call, can—could. I—He / She, you—I / me. Pay attention to the following:
Direct speech Reported speech
am, is , am having, go, will, can was , was having, would , could, went
a present situation a past situation
When you report what someone said, you use words that talk about the past.
Note: not …anymore = not… any more= no more (It’s often used with a quick action that only happens once.)
not…any longer = no longer (It’s often used with an action that happens an action that continues for some time.)
Step4 Summary
Today we practiced listening and changing direct speech into reported speech.
Step 5 Homework
1. Review the conversation and the vocabulary.
2. Write the sentences in grammar focus.
3. Put the following direct speech into reported speech.
1)“I’m going to have a surprise party for Marcia .” Lana said.
2) The teacher said, “My students are hard-working.”
3) Tom said to Jim, “I’ll lend my bike to you.”
4) My friend said to Mr. Smith, “I’m sorry that I am late again.”
5) Our parents said to us, “You can’t fight at school.”

Step 1 Revision and Lead-in
1. Check the homework.
2. Ask the Ss to report what others said to them with reported speech. as the previous two periods.
Step 2 New Words
Write the following words on the Bb and teach several times.

pass on 把……传给 message C. 消息,信息
suppose v. 假定, 期望 be supposed to 认为应该
Step 3 While-task3a.
1. Read the article to the class.
2. Ask Ss to fill in the blanks on their own.
3. Correct the answers.
Step 4 3b
In this activity students can write what they think Ben and Lana and Marcia will
do.
If possible, ask a few students to read their writing in class.
Step 5 Groupwork
Ss work in groups of four to complete the role plays .Ask a few Ss to show their role plays to the class.
Note:1) pass sb sth = pass sth to sb
e.g. He passed me a ball.= He passed a ball to me.
2) Suppose + Object Clause means guess or think
e.g.,I suppose he knows much about Chinese history.
3) be supposed to do means should
e.g. You are not supposed to smoke here.

Today we practice some reading and writing with the target language.

Write your composition in your exercise-books.

【Teaching procedures】
Step1 Pre-task Revision and lead-in
1. Greet the class as usual and check the homework.
2.Say, here are many good students in our class, They are good at English. And
often get good English grades. Such as A is a hard-working student. B is good at speaking English. C can do well in reading English. But D is weak in English because he is lazy, So we hope he can do better in it from now on. when you say these words, write the underlined words or phrases on the Bb.
Step2 While-task
1a .Read the sentences to the class and teach new words written on the Bb in Step 1 for times. Then ask Ss to check the sentences that are true for themselves. Ask one student to read each sentence to the class and ask Ss to raise their hands if they checked that answer.
2a .1.Read the instructions to Ss .Make sure they know what subject the teacher in each picture is teaching. Then get Ss understand how to do the work.2.Play the recording two or three times .Correct the answers.
2b 1. Have the Ss to read the information on the four report cards, Help them understand it,2. Play the recording two or three times.3.Ask them which report card is Scott’s. 4. Correct the answers.
Step 3 Post-task
2c Pairwork In pairs ,get Ss to choose a report card from activity 2b to talk about .Then ask some pairs to present their dialogues.
Step4 Summary and homework
1. Sum the important words and phrases.
2. Sum the target language.
3. Write your own conversations as the sample in 1b on page 29.

Step1:Pre-task
Revision and lead-in
1.Greet the class as usual and check the homework.
2. Say, Yesterday we learned four report cards on page 29. Today let’s find another student’s report card. Here are some information about it on page 30. Let’s read it. First of all, we will study some new words. Write them on the Bb.

Step2 While-task
3a.1 .Read the instructions. Ask the Ss to read the letter on their own. When reading, ask them underline the words and sentences they don’t understand. Explain them to the students. Encourage those students who can help explain them. 2. Then get the Ss to read again and find out Allan’s repot card in Activity 2b. 3b. Tell the Ss turn to page 29 and look at No. 3 report card. Say this is Scott’s report card. Write the letter using the information on this card. After finishing writing the letter, Ask several Ss to read his or her completed letter to the class. DON’T forget to praise those who have the good writings.
Step3 Post-task
3c. First ask the students to write their own report card, Guide Ss to use the comments in Activity 2b and 3a for ideas. Then write the letter to their friends or relatives about their report card
Step4 Summary
Today we learned a letter about report card. And also learned some important phrases. We learned how to write our own repot card now.
Step5 Homework
1. Copy the important words and phrases.
2. Write your own report card using the information in Activity 2b.
