教学目标:1. To master important new words in the article.
2. To develop the students’ reading skills by understanding the article.
3. To teach the students to learn how to protect themselves when they are in danger.

一. 预习作业
Ⅰ.请初步了解并会读本课时的词汇,完成下列英汉互译。

Ⅰ.预习交流
Free talk and check the preparation out.
1. Show some pictures of natural disasters, review the disasters we have
learnt.
2. Check out the prepared work.
A. 单词,个别读且纠正----集体学习朗读----提示重点单词
B. 问题,小组核对----集体校对----质疑交流
Ⅱ.展示探究
Step One: Presentation
1. Show a video of an earthquake, ask: What can you see in the
video?
( I can see some houses shaking.)
( I can see people screaming in fear.)
( I can see people running wildly in all directions.)
( I can see some people trapped under the bricks.)
2. Write down the new words on the blackboard, read, understand and learn them by heart.
Step Two: Reading and practice
1. Play the recorder, ask the students to listen and then finish the exercises on P97 T or F
2. Say T or F, and try to corret the wrong sentences.
3. Play the recorder again, ask the students to read after the recorder one paragragh by one.
After reading each paragragh, ask them to answer one question:
Para.1:What was Timmy doing when the earthquake started?
(He was doing some shopping.)
What happened in the shopping centre?
(There was a big noise. People became frighted.Some people screamde.)
Para.2:what happened to the buidings?
(Pieces of glass and bricks fell down. Then the walls began to come down.)
Para.3:Where was Timmy when the shaking stopped?
(It was dark around him and he didn’t know where he was. He was trapped.)
Para.4:How did Timmy feel?
(When he found that he was trapped, a moment of fear went through his mind but he told himself to calm down.)
Para.5:What did Timmy do while he was waiting for help?
(He shouted for help. He ate some chocolate.)
Para.6:How was he saved?
(People moved away the bricks and stones and saved him.)
4. Let the students read the article by themselves.
5. Encourage some students to read before the whole class.
Step Three: Group work (have a discussion)
How to protect yourself when you are in danger?
(给出不同的场景,如地震、落水、遇到强盗、火灾等,请每个小组讨论一个话题。
