1、选修6单元重点难点点1、 And so do you ,if youre afraid. 如果你害怕,你也会如此的(指上句的“shake”)。 形容词afraid一般不用作定语,而是用作表语,其结构为: be afraidof sthof doing sthto do sththat从句例句: 1) She is afraid of dogs. 她怕狗。 2) Dont be afraid of making mistakes. 不要怕犯错误。 3) Im afraid to go alone. 我独自去有点害怕。 4) Im afraid (that) I cant go with you.
2、 Im busy right now. 我恐怕不能跟你去,我眼下正忙着。 be afraid还表达一种委婉的意思,通常译为“恐怕”,如例句中的第4句。本课27页中的“Scientists are afraid that”意为“科学家们担心”。2、 It sounded like a train that was going under my house. 那声音听起来像是一列火车正从我家房子下面通过。讲解 感官动词sounded用作连系动词,介词like短语作表语。类似结构还有:It looks like(看起来像) It smells like(闻起来像), It seems like(似乎
3、像)3、 It was like being on a boat. 这就像是在一条船上的的(感觉)。 比较下面两句: It was like on a boat.It was like being on a boat. (“being”强调当时的情景,表示“正在船上”。)4、 The city was shaken by a terrible earthquake. 一场强烈的地震使这城市受到振颤。讲解: 动词shake可用作不及物动词,意为“发抖”、“颤动”、“震动”。如: 1) He shook with cold. 他冷得发抖。 2) She was shaking nervously.
4、 她紧张得焦虑不安。 Shake还可用及物动词,意为“摇”、“动摇”、“抖动”、“使震动”。如: 1) They shook hands with each other and went together into the house. 他们相互握手,然后一同走进屋里。 2) The accident shook his hope, for he lost both his legs. 那次事故动摇了他的理想,因为他失去了双腿。5、 Then suddenly an earthquake is felt. 突然间,他感到地震。讲解: feel可用作及物动词,意为“感觉”。如: The blin
5、d man felt his way home. 那位盲人摸索着回家。 动词feel还可用作及物动词,后面可接名词、复合宾语(宾语+补语)或从句。试比较: 1) I feel the cloth. 我摸这块布料。 2) I feel the house shake. 我感觉这房子在摇晃。 3) I feel that the house will shake. 我认为这房子会摇晃的。 课文中句子用被动语态(“an earthquake is felt”) 是因为作者不知道使动者或是不想强调使动者。6、 Its a bad place for earthquakes. 这是一个地震多发地区。讲解
6、: 英语表示某一地区有何特征,常用“aplace for”这一表达法。如: 1) Wang Fu Jing is a good place for shopping.王府井是一个购物的好去处。 2) Huang Shan is a nice place for sight-seeing. 黄山是一个观赏风景的好地方。7、 Sun Francisco is now the times more than it was in 1906. 旧金山市比1906年时大了10倍。讲解: 表示“倍数”常用如下两种表达方式: A is ten times bigger than B. (A为11,B为1) A

(A为10,B为1)例:1)This school is twice larger than that school. 这所学校比那些学校大两倍。 2) The books he had are five times as many as the books I had. 他的书比我的书多四倍。/是我的书的五倍。8、易混词语 fall off onto the floor 掉下来落到地板上(off作副词)fall off the bicycle 从自行车上掉下来( off作介词)off有“脱离”之意,可作介词又可用副词。如: 1) Im g
8、oing off to Shanghai. 我去离开(此地)去上海。(副词) 2) The glass fell off the table. 那只玻璃杯从桌子上掉下来。(介词) Sure I was. 我当然是。(sure用作副词)I was sure. 我能肯定。(sure用作形容词)sure.用作形容词。如:1) I am sure to win. 我肯定能赢。2) Im sure(that) he is right. 我肯定他是对的。sure用作副词(美国人喜欢用sure代替certainly或surely)。如:1)Do you like it? 你喜欢吃它吗?Sure(=certa
9、inly)当然。3) It sure was a cold night. 的确是寒冷的夜晚。(sure=surely)move移动;迁移;行动(名词)movement运动;活动(名词)例:1)Did you see the move of the leaves? 你看见树叶动了吗? 2)Whats your next move? 我们下一步做什么? 3)Scientists study the movement of stars. 科学家们研究行星的运动。 4)There was a mass movement against buying Japanese goods.进行了一场抑制日货的群众运动。die (动词)dead (形容词)death (名词)例:1)His mother died three years ago. 他的母亲三年前就去世了。(注意:die是点动词,不与表示延续的时间状语连用)。 2)His mother was dead when he came back. 他回来后,他母亲就去逝了。 3)The death of his mother hurt him very much. 他母亲的死使他受到极大的创伤。
