1. To enable Ss to talk about the things happened in the past.
—When did he start hiccupping?
—He started hiccupping in 1922.
2. To enable Ss to ask about experience.
—How long did he hiccup?
—He hiccupped for 69 years.
3. Talk about world record and people’s experience.
4. To enable Ss to listen and speak these patterns:
When did he start hiccupping?
When did she stop sneezing?
How long did she sneeze?
Emotion, attitude and value:
To be successful is not easy. We should work hard.
Teaching difficulties and focuses:
1. Present the new vocabulary with PPT (world record, hiccup, sneeze)
2. The structures and usage of “start doing sth.” and “stop doing sth.”
Teaching methods: The audio-lingual method
Teaching aids: CAI, Blackboard, Some posters

Show some posters of super stars to review the pattern “When was she/he born?”

Talk about some pictures about “world record”.

1. Present the new vocabulary with PPT ( world record, hiccup, sneeze)
2. Show a video and more examples to learn the structures “start doing sth.” and “stop doing sth.”
3. Have Ss play a game.
