1、 本班学生都是来自农村，英语基础普遍较差，但是对英语比较感兴趣，乐于参与各种调查、汇报等实践活动。
2、 学习本模块前，学生在上堂课已经学习了形容词、数词的用法。本课主要是进一步使学生能够很好的掌握阅读理解的方法！

本课内容是外研版初中英语教材第11模块的第2单元的阅读课，根据教纲要求，本单元要用1至2个课时。本课教材以城市变化所带来的问题为话题，学生应该结合实际，以便更好理解本课中心内容。本课内容以教师导出问题为辅，学生通过合作解决问题为主。通过一定的阅读方法，结合读写等活动，给学生提供充足的体验运用的机会。
因此，本课学习Activity1-4的内容，Activity5-6放在第二课时。

本课教学的具体目标设定为以下几个方面：
第一、 语言知识、语言技能目标：
能通过快速阅读、精读等方法，获取行对应的信息，并能够体会这些阅读方法的实用性和重要性。
第二、情感态度目标：
培养学生良好的合作意识，鼓励学生大胆表达自己的想法和意愿；通过文章，能够使学生乐于参与社会各种有益的活动，学会爱护自己的城市，珍惜生活，乐于生活，培养一定的环保意识。

培养正确、良好的阅读习惯、方法；创造浓厚的学习氛围。

本节课型以阅读为主，综合使用一下的方法：任务型教学法，读写相结合，启发式教学。通过阅读理解的训练，增强学生合作意识，掌握阅读的方法。为了使课堂充满趣味和有意义，应用多媒体教学，同时通过竞赛、讨论等形式巩固本单元重点，同时在运用中发展语言的能力。

一、课文导入 Lead-in（2-3’）
[设计意图] 回顾上个单元重要知识点。给学生两幅深圳的图片，用图片引起学生的兴趣，使课堂充满轻松、愉快的氛围，调动学生的学习情绪，更好的导入新课。
【操作过程】给出数词，学生回答。展示图片，学生讨论。
二、 前任务 Pre-task(2-3’)
[设计意图] 通过屏幕展示图片，引起学生的注意力，让学生说出图片的单词，让学生在语境中学习词汇，进而为阅读理解做好准备。
【操作过程】
Task1 Learn some new words in the box in A1.
Step one: Let students learn some new words in the box in A1by themselves.
Step two: List some pictures on the screen and let students use the words in the box in A1 to describe the pictures.

三、 任务环 While-task(20-25’)
[设计意图] 学生带着问题，快速阅读文章，然后完成任务。训练学生通过快速阅读获取主要信息的技能。学生带着问题，细读每个段落，然后回答问题。在学生能通过快速阅读获取重要信息技能的基础上，通过精读，让学生掌握本篇文章中的语法、词汇等，并通过讨论回答问题，培养学生的合作、探究精神。
【操作过程】
Task 2 Fast reading and answer the questions.
Step 1: Give students 3 minutes to read the passage and then answer these questions:
1.Why do people arrive in Arnwick ?

Step 2: Students discuss in groups and answer the questions.
Task 3 Read the passage paragraph by paragraph.

【设计意图】一方面通过布置学生复述文章，布置阅读理解习题，使学生再次掌握阅读理解方法的重要性；另一方面让学生应用本课所学的新单词、词组造句，使学生在课文学习的基础上提高运用语言的综合能力。
