Teaching procedures:
Step 1.Warm-up
1. Check up the homework.
2. Get some students to talk about people’s looks.
A: What does … look like?
B: He is … He has…
Step 2. Learning the new vocabulary words
1. There are only two new words: beard; glasses. The teacher may teach them with the objects. Then practice reading and remember them.
2. Explain the new words: have a beard; wear glasses
Step 3. 1a1b Matching
1. Get the students to look at the pictures and try to match.
2. Look at the pictures and check up the answers.
3. 1b: The teacher reads the instructions to the students. Get them to make sentences by themselves. Individually or in pairs.
4. Ask the students to read their sentences. Their sentences may vary.
And see weather their sentences are right or wrong.
Step 4. 2a 2b Listening and writing practice
1. The teacher reads the instructions to the students. Get the students to look at the picture and read the chart first. Try to fill in the jobs by listening to the tape.
2. Play the tape, fill in their jobs in the chart.
3. Play the tape again and check up the answers.
4. The teacher explains the instructions to the students. “What do Johnny
Dean’s and Tina Brown’s look like?”
5. Get the students to look at the picture, try to describe their looks.
6. Play the tape and try to fill in the chart.
7. Play the tape again and check up the answers.
8. Play the tape and repeat after the tape.
Step 5. 2cGroup work
1.The teacher reads the instructions to the students.
2. Get the students to read the passage in the circle.
3. Have the students write a passage about your favorite musician, actor or athletic. “What does he/she look like?” Work in small groups. Ask others in the group to add information to each description, if possible.
4. Let a few students read their passage.
Step 6.Summary
Summarize the new words and the useful expressions.
Step 7.Homework
1. Remember the words and expressions.
2. Write a passage to describe a famous person’s look.
