Section B needs 1~2 periods.
The main activities are 1a and 1c.
Teaching aims and demands:
1. Learn more traffic rules.
2. Learn to read more road signs.
3. Learn and practice adverbial clause of condition.
Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Review
1. Ask some students to tell some traffic rules.
2. Ask some students to read their own passages about accident.
3. Ask one student to come to the front and talk to others about the accident they learned yesterday.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Ask 3 students to read 1a.One acts as Jin Meng, one as Kangkang, and the other, Michael. The other students listen to them carefully and find the new words and expressions.
2. Ask one student to write the new words on the blackboard and teacher explains them.
3. Ask the students to close the books and listen to the tape. Give them 3 minutes to talk about the dialog in groups. Then ask one student from each group to retell the dialog.
4. Play the tape, let the students listen to 1b and the students can read after the recorder.
5. Give students 3 minutes to read 1b by themselves, at the same time, teacher writes some important words for every sentence on the blackboard.

d:...For example...special cycle paths...avoid...
e:If...break...fine
6. Let the students close the books, look at the blackboard and recite the passage. At last, clean the blackboard and ask the students to recite again.
7. Teach the students how to fill in the fine bill. Then do some questions about it.
Step 3 Consolidation
1. Ask one student to finish 1c and other students check the answers.
2. Find some the students to tell the names of the road signs in 2.
Then check the answers together.
Step 4 Practice
1. Let the students read 3 by themselves, and get the general idea of the passage.
2. Get the students to listen and follow. Then write 5 reasons that the bicycle is popular around the world.
3. Check the answers.
4. Ask the students to make some sentences with“if”.
Step 5 Project
1. Divide the students into several groups. Then let them talk about the importance of obeying the traffic rules.
2. Find one student from each group to report the result to the whole class.
