Please Ss read out the new words. 2. Show the correct answers and check them with the whole class. Step2.Listen to the tape and answer questions. T: Do you want to go birdwatching there? You can invite some friends to go with them. Sandy would like to invite Daniel to go birdwatching with her. Please listen to the tape and answer questions. Who would Sandy like to invite to go birdwatching ?(Daniel) Where will they go ?(Beijing Wildlife Park) What can they do in Beijing Wildlife Park ?(They can see different kinds of birds and an interesting bird show as well.) When is it ? (It’s on Saturday ,15th December.) 1. What time does it start ?(It starts 9.30 p.m. and finishes at 3.30p.m..) Step3.Read after the tape and talk about how to invite others and how to reply to other’s invitation. T: Hold your books ,please read after the tape ,girls are Sandy ,boys are Daniel. T: Now, if you want to invite your friends , what can you say and if your friends invite you ,what can you answer. discuss in your group. Useful expressions How to invite people? S: Would you like to….? Let’s…..,shall we? Why not….? Why don’t we…? What about ….? how about….? Who would you like to invite? Reply Yes[Yes,I’m free./I’d love to./I’ll be very happy to go ./I’m very pleased to go.] No[Oh,I’m very sorry I won’t be able to make it./I’m busy ./I’m afraid I won’t be able to go. Step4:How to make an invitation? 1. Who would you like to invite? 2. What will you do? 3. Where is it? 4. When is it? 5. What does it start /finish? Work in pairs. Use Daniel and Sandy’s conversation as a model .Invite your friends to go birdwatching. More events A trip. Christmas party A sports day A visit to museum /cinema /someone’s house A: Would you like to…? B: When are you going? A: It’s on …..We can do…..Are you free? Do you have time? B: What time does it start? A: It starts at ….and finishes at… B: Yes. I’m free ./I’m happy to come…Ok, I’m sorry I won’t be able to come because ….. A: You’re welcome /don’t worry…. Step5: Study Skills 1. Brainstorm from Ss when people need to take notes. (S: Reading a text./Listening to a lecture (讲座) /programme./Interviewing someone) 2. Elicit Ss’ answers on how to take notes quickly. 1) include only keywords and important information. 2) do not write complete sentences . 3) omit articles and some common verbs. 4) use short forms and symbols. T: Lead in the useful skill: short forms and symbols. Step6:Practice. 1.Ss go through parts A,B freely, try to memories as many as they can . 2.Ss finish off the two parts on their own. Check up in class.. 3.Ss practice reading the letter in any way. Make sure they can give fluent English. Step7:Extension activities . 1.Do you know the following short forms or symbols? Get Ss to give the prepare ones then check as a whole class . Step8:Creating. 1.Ss go through Daniel’s questions and try to give proper short forms and symbols. 2.Check out.
