Teaching procedures and ways 教学过程与方式 Step I. Revision Check their writing. Sample: I have many good friends, but Jack is my best one. We have been friends for many years. Jack is tall and strong. He has a round face and a pointed nose. He has bright, smiling eyes. They make him look very handsome. Jack is generous and helpful. He is willing to help people in need. When I come across problems, he always helps me out. Especially in my study, he often helps me with my homework. He is also funny and often tells me jokes, which makes me happy. He always wears a smile on his face and looks happy. Jack would like to be a doctor when he grows up. He wants to serve the sick people and help them get rid of illness. I think he would be the famous and best doctor. Step II Check out T: This step encourages students to find out how much they have learned and how well their learning strategies are working. The first exercises reviews the new grammar items and the second exercise reviews the new vocabulary taught in the unit. Ask students to do the exercises in the textbook on Page 21 and then check the answers. B:Because you are too young. 因为你太年轻了。 He didn’t attend the meeting because he had too much work to do. It is because it rained last week that they put off the match. because of也有“因为;由于”之意。because of为介词短语,后跟名词、代词、what引导的从句及-ing,不能跟原因状语从句。 e.g. He cried because of what his mother said. The sporting meeting is put off because of the bad weather. He was punished because of being late for school. 2.since和as是从属连词,说明的是已为人们所知和理由。since的语气比because弱,但比as强。since和as引导的从句一般放在句子的开头。since更加强调“既然”、“由于”,用来表示大家已然知道的事实,侧重主句。as不如since正式,而且经常用于口语。 e.g. Since he was busy, he didn't come. As I have a day off today, I'll write to you. 此外,since也可以述说推断的理. e.g. It must have rained, since the ground is wet. 3. for “因为,由于”并列连词,表明附加或推断的理由,引导的分居前常有逗号,for分句不放句首。 Exercises: 1. —Why was he late for school? —____ he got up too late.
