entry, entrance均含有进入房间或建筑物的意思，如：
She looked up at the sound of my entrance/ entry. 她听见我进来的声音抬起头来望。
entry, entrance还可以表示加入俱乐部、机构或团体的权利，如：
an entrance exam 入学考试
entry requirements 入会规定
3. confident adj. confidence n.
be confident of=have confidence in
我们有信心赢得比赛。
We are confident of winning the match.
= We have confidence in winning the match.
不要对自己失去信心。
Don’t lose confidence in yourself.
When you are in trouble, please give yourself a confident smile.
We should study English with confidence. (充满信心地)
4. elect v. election n.
elect sb. n. /elect sb. to do sth. /elect sb. as/ elect to do sth.
eg. Bill Clinton was elected as the 42th American President.
elect sb. +职位
如：elect me president 选我做主席
get elected 当选 get + v-ed 如：
get dressed, get rewarded, get started, etc.
win the election 赢得竞选

22. release v. vt. 释放; 放开 set free; allow to come out
release sb/sth from sth把…从…解脱出来 set (sb or sth) free from (sth, usually bad or unpleasant) 把人或动物从某种束缚或痛苦中解放出来,使之继续自由活动,用作及物动词,接名词或代词作宾语,宾语后面常接介词from。
The bird was released from the cage.鸟从笼里放出去了。
release an animal 把动物放开 release a book 发行书23. absorb v. vt. 吸收
take in a liquid, gas or other substance from the surface or space around
absorb的基本意思是“吸收”,可指吸收液体、气体、光、热、能等,也指吸收抽象的知识、文化、经验、教训、思想、方法等,含有“以此丰富了吸收者”之意,并暗示“吸收”的渐进性和彻底性。
absorb sunlight 吸收阳光 absorb experience 吸取经验
A sponge absorbs water easily. 海绵易于吸水。

24. affect vt. 影响 cause some result or change; influence
affect the result 影响结果
affect sb's life 影响某人的生活
Her opinion will not affect my decision.
她的意见不会影响我的决定。
Affect & influence 1.affect着重指一时的“影响”; 而influence则往往指对行为、性格、观点等较长时间的、潜移默化的“影响”。2.表示不良影响时只能用affect,不能用influence。
