Lay the food on the bed. “Lay” means “put”. (2) What was in the rubbish bin? Milk would be stored in the rubbish bin. Store milk in the rubbish bin. “Store” means “keep”. (3) What was all over the floor? Coins, bills and private papers were spread on the floor. Spread these things all over the floor. Here “spread” means “put something everywhere”.
