【教学目标】
Based on the analysis of the teaching material, I have chosen the following as the teaching aims of my lesson:
1. 知识目标
① 学习“漫画”,了解不同的国际慈善机构的名称和它们的功能.
② 探讨如何才能更好地帮助贫困地区的人们.
2. 能力目标
① 学生可以学习听、说、读、写4个技能,尤其是听力和口语
② 学生获得沟通与合作的能力.
3. 情感目标
① 帮助世界上贫困的人是我们的责任.
② 如果我们能够提供一些帮助,爱将会存在你我身边.
【教学重点】
1.向学生介绍一些国际慈善机构.
2.学习如何使用“used to do sth.” 和 “be used to sth./doing sth.”的用法.

2.地位和作用:这本书的目地是帮助学生在现实生活中沟通。本课程的主要目的是介绍一些国际慈善机构给学生,使学生在世界各地都知道如何去帮助穷人。.
学生分析:
学生已经学英语好几年了。他们已积累了很多基本知识,并渴望获得新的知识,通过对每一个国际慈善机构的介绍讲解,激发他们的学习热情,从而达到教学目标,在教学过程中,教师应该尽可能多的给予他们信息并鼓励他们积极参与课堂活动,使学生被动的“让我学”变成主动的“我要学”。

五、 教学过程
General idea: Teaching important points are the names of the different International charities , to offer the suggestions, the things we can do for the charities. At last, retell the Comic strip to check how well students have learnt in this class.
Step One. Warming-up & Lead in
Greet the whole class as usual and play a song.“We are the world”

1. Revision
.T: We can help them in many ways. Many charities can also help them. Can you name some charities in China?
S: Project Hope, Project Green Hope, Spring Bud Project and Save China’s Tigers.

2. Explanation
Show the pictures on the screen and present some charities around the world.

An international organization that helps people improve their eyesight and prevent them from being blind. It also works to train doctors and nurses for many countries to cure blind people or people in poor eyesight.It works to help people who are unable to see.

2.Practice reading them again and again.
3.Finish the exercise in P 77 (Part A) and check the answers.

3 . Discussion
1. T: As we know, people in poor areas need a lot of things. What do they need?(Get the students to discuss) Then divide students into group of four . Set an example : People in Indonesia after Tsunami. Discuss what is the most / least important and why ?
Let them make a conclusion like this :
I think…….is the most / least important for people in poor countries…….
2. Finish the exercise in P 77 (Part B) and let students say the reasons.

Step Two. Communication
1.What do you think people in poor countries need most? Do they get help from international charities? What can you do for charities?
We can donate our pocket money to them.
2.Show the International charities logos in Part A to students again. Get students to group themselves into a team of four . One student shows a logo and asks questions, such as :
① What is it ?
② What does it work for ?
③ Which charity do you think the most important ? Why ?

Step Three . Presentation
1.Tell students that Eddie and Hobo are going to help the poor people.Play the tape recording for the first time.Listen to the conversation between Eddie and Hobo.Ask students to find out the following questions after listening:Oxfam needs money to carry on with their work.
① Who calls for donating pocket money to Oxfam? (Hobo)
② Whose pocket money does he want to donate? (Eddie’s)
③ Why not? (He doesn’t often go out before lunch. That is to say, he isn’t used to going out before lunch.)
④ What does Eddie think of Hobo? (Hobo was kind to him before, but now he isn’t. That is to say, Hobo used to be kind to Eddie.)

Step Four . Reading and acting
Ask the students to read the Comic strips after listening to the tape and try to perform Hobo and Eddie according to the comic strip. Then ask three or four pairs to perform this conversation before the class.

Step Five . Working out expressions and language points
1.Back to the textbook and go over page 76 and 77 again to underline all the useful expressions.

②used adj. 二手的; 旧的; 用过的
used to 过去常常 (后接动词原形)
be / get used to sth./doing sth. 对某事物/做某事已适应/习惯
③“too…to…”结构表示“太……而不 能……”,副词后接形容词或副词的原形,其后再接动词不定式。
④一日三餐之前一般不加冠词。但如果breakfast, lunch, supper或dinner之前有形容词修饰时,常加a/an。

Step Six . Retell the story
Play the tape recording again,and make sure every student has understood the conversation,then retell…

Step Seven . Activity
1.每个小组应向大家介绍你所在的国际慈善机构的名称、建立原因、保护对象以及为募集资金而举行的活动,倡议大家都来为你所在的慈善机构捐款。
2.每小组的代表上台陈述,陈述完毕之后统计愿意为各组捐款的学生人数,但不含本组成员。得票最高的为胜利组,可评为Charity Star,并予以奖励。
[设计说明]学生以小组为单位,讨论每个国际慈善组织的作用和意义。充分体现新课程自主探究、合作交流的学习方式,促使学生互相学习,互相帮助,发展其团队合作精神。

Step Nine .Summarize and pondering:
1.Summarize:
(1)The content of this period to get students to learn some International charities and develop their ideas of helping poor people. Students should learn the names of the International charities in Part A by heart.The main task is to let students know something about the charities and their functions.
(2) Summing up what the students have learnt in this unit. Teacher can say “Work with your partner. First write down what you have learned about the charities. Then write down the verbs, nouns, expressions and new grammar items that you have learned from this lesson.”
2.Pondering:
The main task of this period is to arouse students’ interest to learn this unit. Part A involves five International charities around the world . Teachers can provide more information about them for students and ask students to search the Internet for some other International charities.

Step Ten .Homework
1. Revise the useful expressions and have a dictation.
2. Listen, repeat and read the comic strips and try to remember it. Act it out.easily.
3. Finish off the teaching plan’s exercises and Evaluation Handbook exercises.
4. Surf the Internet for more International charities. Revise the content of the lesson and preparation for the next part --- Reading.

六、教学反思
1. 较成功的方面
(1)结合农村学生英语基础差,听说能力差,缺乏学习兴趣,两极分化严重这一特点我设计了本课教学。本课采用了多媒体教学,通过直观形象的图片导入新课,激发了学生的学习兴趣。在教学过程中采用了自主学习和分组讨论两大学法,拓宽了学生知识的积累和运用,激发了学生的求知欲,增添了学习乐趣,营造出平等和谐的学习氛围,使不同层次的学生在听、说、读、写方面都有所提高,并使学生能够在课内完成学习的主要任务,达到学以致用的目的。
(2)通过本节课的学习,学生了解了国际上的一些慈善机构的名称,并原意为慈善事业奉献爱心。课堂练习情况也较好,通过角色扮演和小组活动,让整个班级的同学“动”了起来。学生能够灵活准确的把所学的知识全部体现到活动中,同时表现出极大的兴趣,85%的学生都能准确而快速的完成练习,并能根据所给的单词提示复述出漫画内容。
(3)本节课采用任务型教学途径,充分发挥了网络搜索在英语教学中应用优势。根据学生的学情对教材进行组织与处理,使教材成为学习过程的重要(不是唯一)资源,用好了教材,但不是教好教材。为了让学生从教学中获取新的信息,我在设计学习任务时,注意难易结合,因为任务太容易,就缺乏挑战性,学生就会失去兴趣,但如果太难,学生会望而生畏,觉得无法完成,又会失去自信。所以创造良好的英语学习环境,才会让学生们自觉自愿地融入英语学习中,从而营造英语教学的高效课堂。
2. 存在的问题
(1)学生的语言训练活动层次不高,只有语言形式上的操练,达不到语言交际的层次,交际面有时过窄,很难训练到全部,基础差的学生往往答不上口,只在一边看热闹。
(2)课堂小组活动方面,学生的课堂参与度依然有待提高,课堂中小组合作学习的实效性仍需进一步探究。
