When you finished your junior study, your parents and you all had a careful and thoughtful consideration about which senior high school suited you best. In choosing a new school, you have to consider the school facilities and environment and other factors so that you can have an easy and convenient life there. This period, we'll learn something about school facilities.
So can you tell me which aspect or factor attracts you most and causes you to study here?

Step 3: Vocabulary learning
Activity 1 Learning the names of school buildings
T: Do you still remember the first day you came to this school? Do you have any difficulties in fining your way to the classroom or any other buildings that day?
S1: On the first day I came here, I found the school is really larger than my junior one. I had to go around seeing what buildings there are so that I could find them easily.
T: Usually, if you don’t know the way, how did you find the way at last? Do you ask others for help?
S2: l had some difficulty in finding the classroom. There are three large classroom buildings. I don't know which one is ours. I had to ask someone for help.
T: Ok, today we will discuss the question about how to find the way in the school. First let’s enjoy some pictures and guess where they are.
T: Just now you told me that you had difficulty in finding the way to Beijing Road Senior High School. So did Wei Hua. She also had some difficulty in finding the way on the first day in the UK school. Now let’s look at the picture of her school. Please tell me the Chinese meaning of these school facilities.
S1: 餐厅,游泳池,宿舍…
S2: 实验室, 图书馆, 艺体中心…
Activity 2 Finding the way
Now please turn to page 6 and focus on the map and read the names of each building and Wei Hua's thoughts.
T: Skimming the passage together and underline difficult words
T: Reading the passage carefully from “If I walk towards……swimming pool.” Pay attention to her steps of movement, underline verb + prep.
Encourage the students to think of the pattern drills they learned in junior high. If necessary, help students review the expressions of asking and answering the way.
T: Usually, if we don't know the way, we would ask others for help. What would you say when you ask for help?
S1: Excuse me, which is the quickest way to...?
S2: Excuse me, could you tell me the way to...?
S3: Excuse me, how can get to...?
T: How to answer the way then?
S4: Turn left / right, and walk straight on. Turn right at the end of the first / second crossing, you will find it on your left / right. You can't miss it.
S5: Walk toward / past.... and then walk between ... and ... You will find ... at the end of the road.
Ask students to focus on the map first and familiarize themselves with each building. Ask students to read Wei Hua’s thoughts carefully and mark her route on the map. Ask the students to do Part B.
T: Read the instructions in Part B and write a description of the quickest way to get from the dormitories to Classroom 4.
S:
Sample description:
Suppose Wei Hua is at the door of the canteen. First she should turn right, walk to the first crossing and turn left, walk straight on to the end of the road, get the book she wants and then return from the same way to the canteen, walk on till the end of the road. Classroom 4 is on her left.

S1: No. But I watched on TV. There are many pieces of equipment there and often there are instructors.
