Module 4 Unit 3 What’s two and three
Preparation
Revise vocabulary, numbers 1 to 12 and the letters of the alphabet using the activity below.
1.Listen and read. Then say .
On the board write the following :
1 + 4 = 5
Explain that in the English language , sums are expressed in the following fashion:
1 + 4 = 5 One and four is five
4 + 7 = 11 Four and seven is eleven
Tell the students to listen to the tape and write down down the two sums they hear .
Play the recording and ask students to repeat after the recording .
Next, ask students to read the dialogues on their own .
2.Listen and match .
Tell students to look at the table .
Explain that they have to listen to the tape and match each student with the correct ages .
Write the table on the board. To correct the answers get the students to go to the board and put the names to the correct ages .
3.Ask and answer.
Get the students to focus on the example dialogue . Point out the grammar for the question and example .
Tell the students that one student should ask the questions and the other should answer. After a while they should change roles.
4.Work in groups of four .
Write some sums on the board:
7 + 9 =
3 + 6 =
Read the sums out.
“What’s 7 and 9 ?”
“What’s 3 and 6 ?”
Tell students that they are going to work in groups of four . They take turns to ask questions and the person on their left school should answer the question .
Bring four students to the front of the class and get them to run through an example .
Now get them to work in groups og four .
5.Homework
Risvise the numbers 1-20 .
