Present pictures of headquarters of the UN; Secretary-General; The UN Security Council; permanent members To motivate the Ss to know about the UN Step2: Fast reading ①What does the UN help countries do? ②How many member states are there in the UN? Step 3:listening Listen to passage and fill in the following form the headquarters of the UN in_____________city the head of the UN __________ _________ the UN Security Council _______members Permanent members China,________,_______ The U.K , the U.S To get the general ideas of the UN To know more about the UN Step4: Practice 1. Competition: Check your memory: Look at the screen, choose your favorite card and answer the questions. The quickest one in a certain time is the winner. When was the UN founded? How many member states are there in the UN? What’s the head of the UN called? What’s in New York City? How many members are there in the UN Security Council? What are the permanent members? 2. Careful reading: Here is a speech that was given at a UN meeting.
