Materials:Pencils and paper
Procedure:
·Divide the class into several teams.Each team chooses one of its members and writes down several questions about him or her starting with How long have you been...Team members should talk to the person in order to write true questions about his or her life.For example:How long have you been studying English?How long have you been playing the piano?How long have you been sitting in class today?How long have you been riding your bicycle to school?
·Next,have students work with their team to write a true answer to each question using the word for or since.For example,I’ve been studying English for two years.I’ve been playing piano since I was four.I’ve been sitting in class for an hour:I’ve been riding my bicycle to school since 1997.
·Then ask different pairs of teams to work together.They take turns pointing to the person they have written about and asking the other team questions with How long.For example,How long has he/she been studying English?How long has he/she been playing the piano?How long has he/she been sitting in class today?How long has he/she been riding his/her bicycle to school?
·Different members of the other team try to answer each question truthfully using the words for or since.Ask the teams to keep score of the numbers of right and wrong answers they are able to give.The team with the most correct answers wins.
