Unit 8 Discoveries Lesson 21 Famous Discoveries v◆ 教材分析 Lesson 22是一节阅读课,涉及的话题是Famous discovery。第一发现是抗生素,它在现实生活中作用比较大,但要注意适当使用。第二发现是DNA,文本中介绍了它的架构,同时通过这个我们可以获知孩子从父母那遗传了哪些基因,同时也能在医学界可以帮助治疗很多疾病。第三个发现是X光射线,介绍了它的发明人及它的作用,在生活中人们把它用到了各行各业中。通过文本学习,使学生了解这些方面的知识,在生活中能够解决一些小问题。 ◆ 教学目标 【知识目标】 通过对文本的理解与参与活动1,感知条件状语从句的意义。 【能力目标】 通过阅读文本,表达出这些发现在现实生活中的所起的作用,了解一些简单的医学常识。 【情感目标】 通过本节课的学习,使学生了解到需要长久不懈的努力和坚持,才能有所发现,有所成就。、 ◆ 教学重难点 ◆ 【教学重点】 通过阅读文本,获取有关three discoveries的名称、发明人及用途等基本信息。 【教学难点】 ◆ 课前准备 ◆ 运用所学内容,就这些著名发现来谈论它们在现实生活中的所起的作用,了解一些简单的医学常识。 1. 课前准备:调试光盘与课件、给学生分组、为学生布置预习作业等; 2. 教具学具:光盘、大卡片等。 ◆ 教学过程 Step1. Warm-up 1. Let students talk about the astronomic knowledge. 2. Let students make a discussion on the astronomic discoveries. What are the people doing in the following pictures? What do you think they are trying to discover? 3. Listen to and practice the key words related to discovery. chemistry, do experiments, electricity, health, lab, machine, observe, physics, research, space, technology 4. Take a look at pictures and learn famous discoverer. Step2. Reading 1. Look the photos of figures who made the three discoveries and introduce their discoveries. 2. Read and find the name of the picture A, B and C and make sure whether your match is right or not. 3. Let students find out when these discoveries took place. Write the correct years. 4. Scan and find out the main contents presented in the passage. 5. Finish them on the worksheet to answer the following questions. Step3. Language points 1. cure vt. 治愈; 矫正; 解决; 消除 He needed surgery to cure a troublesome back injury. 2. block n. 块; 街区; 障碍物,阻碍 She walked four blocks down High Street. There is a block of ice. 3. pass on 传递; 去世; 前进; 对…发表(意见) He has written a note asking me to pass on his thanks. 4. treat v. 对待; 治疗; 处理; 款待 Doctors treated her with aspirin. Step4. Pair work 1. Students pretend to be a doctor and treat the various cases. 2. Ask students to discuss which discovery is the most important according to the text. 3. Let students share with their ideas of discoveries. Step5. Homework 1. Finish Exercise book. 2. If you live in school or travel around for more than 10 days, what will you take in your medicine bag(急救包)? Discuss with your partner, and write down on the worksheet. 略
