The sick birds likely consumed poisonous acid via small fish. It also tends to collect in shellfish. And, according to a study published Tuesday, it may become more common as oceans warm, threatening birds and humans alike. Researchers have studied the rate of poisonous acid over the past 20 years in the Pacific Northwest, and found it strongly related to water temperatures that are warmer than normal. For now, warmer waters typically comes from events like EL Nino and a decades -long climate cycle called "Pacific decadal oscillation," the study found. It isn't yet clear how climate change, which also warms the oceans, might affect the rate of the poison. "When water's unusually warm off our coast, it's because the circulation and patterns in the atmosphere has changed, bringing warm water from elsewhere - and this is happening at the same time that we also see high poisonous acid in shellfish, " Morgaine McKibben, the study ' s lead author said. The poison is produced during warm domoic blooms, and gets passed up the food chain by animals that eat it. Sea lions, dolphins and humans are at risk. While some animals can eventually clean themselves of the poison, the threat can last a long time after the warm water decreases. Animals poisoned by poisonous acid tend to become weak, and experience death. Symptoms in humans include headache, confusion, loss of short - term memory, weakness and unconsciousness. It isn't just a health risk. An Oregon State University statement notes that officials have to shut down shellfish harvests when poisonous acid levels are high, causing economic harm. Since health officials first regarded poison acid as a health threat in 1987, Pacific Northwest shellfish harvests have been stopped in 2005, 2017, and 2018. The West Coast crab(蟹)industry took an estimated$100 million hit in 2017 alone. 1、Why did the birds lose their mind in the summer of 1961? A.They maybe had a bad memory. B.They maybe ate poisonous fish. C.They maybe collected the shellfish. D.They maybe drank warm water. 2、What is the connection between the rate of poisonous acid and water temperatures? A.When atmosphere has changed, it warms off the coast. B.When circulation comes, the oceans get warmer. C.When climate has changed, the oceans get colder. D.When water becomes warmer, high poisonous acid appears. 3、What result will poisonous acid cause to humans? A.Making humans conscious. B.Making humans dead. C.Making humans temporarily lose memory. D.Making humans suffer heart attack. 4、What's the best title of this passage? A.High Poisonous Acid Appears in the Animals B.The West Coast Crab Industry Suffer Great Loss C.Climate Change Warms the Oceans in the World D.Warmer Oceans Increase Likelihood of Poisonous Shellfish 22.(8分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。 W is the UK’s biggest and best online guide to the performing arts including theatre, opera, classical music, dance and so on. ◆ The Lion King Musical: The stage adaptation of the Disney film taken from an original African story. The scientists invited 36 people of different ages to the lab and had them sit quietly on a fixed bicycle for 10 minutes or, on a separate visit, pedal the bicycle at a pace so gentle that it barely raised their heart rates. It also was short, lasting for only 10 minutes. Immediately after each session of the sitting or slow pedaling, the people completed a computerized memory test during which they would see a brief picture of, for instance, a tree, followed by a variety of other images and then a new image of either the same tree or a similar one. The people would press buttons to show whether they thought each image was new or the same as an earlier shot. The test is difficult, since many of the images closely resemble one another. It requires rapid, skillful scanning recent memories to decide whether a picture is new or known. Next, the scientists had each people repeat this process--riding or sitting on the bike for 10 minutes and then completing memory testing--but the testing now took place inside an M. R. I. machine(磁共振成像仪)that scanned the people's brains while they responded to the images. Then the researchers compared results. The effects of the exercise were clear. The people were better at remembering images after they had ridden the bike, especially when the images most closely resembled one another. In other words, the harder their memories had to do their best, the better they performed after the exercise. The M. R. I. scans showed that memory parts of each people's brain lit up at the same time with parts of the brain associated with learning, indicating that these physically separate parts of the brain were better connected now than when the people had not first exercised. 1、How did the researchers conduct the study? A.By filling up questionnaires. B.By interviewing many people. C.By comparing experiment data. D.By referring to historical reports. 2、Who might benefit most from the study result? A.The marketers promoting fixed bicycles. B.The young people crazy about body building. C.The white collars doing long-term mental work. D.The blue-collars doing heavy physical labor work. 3、Which of the following statements agrees with the study result? A.The light exercise is only good for young people. B.The more the exercise is, the better the brain works. C.The exercise can coordinate different parts of the body. D.The exercise has more positive effect when the brain works harder. 4、What can be the best title for the text? A.Even ten minutes' exercise may be good for the brain B.There is no need for humans doing exercise every day C.Only ten minutes' light exercise benefits the young most D.Exercise can change people's brains and minds in a long time 24.(8分) Do you want to read some new books? By then China had truly carried out strict policies to reduce the energy consumption of economic activities and at the international level, the top Chinese leaders participated in round-clock efforts to cooperate with the major players to build a united front for efforts to solve global warming. But China was finally misjudged. This misjudgment caused China's scholars to rethink China's climate change communicative ways. Among them was Zheng Baowei, journalism professor of Renmin University of China, who realized China had to better shape its communication on its environmental protection. Delightfully, the efforts have paid off. Zheng set up a top-level international group advising his research team. He is in charge of doctoral candidates on climate change communication. Climate awareness surveys have been conducted, and a package of communication tools has been designed. Many seminars have been arranged. Recently, he arranged a seminar on climate change and health communication on the changing situation both in China and the world. First of all, this stressed that China's policy has developed from reducing its energy consumption and pollution prevention to the important goals of achieving a "Beautiful China" and "'Healthy China, "while coming up with plans to realize an ecological civilization since late 2012. With such goals, China played a leading role in securing the Paris c
