01】CET-4 (2006.1) Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Should the University Campus Be Open to Tourists?. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、 名校校园正成为旅游热点; 2、 校园是否应对游客开放,人们看法不同; 3、 我认为…… 【范文】 Should the University Campus Be Open to Tourists? Nowadays, with the development of society and economy and the improvement of people’s living standard(生活标准), tourism has grown to be a new booming industry(旅游业变成了一个急速发展的行业). Places with different styles of tourist resources(资源) have become tourist destinations(目的地、终点), among which the campuses of prestigious(有声望的) universities turn out to be a new focus(焦点). Opinions on whether university campuses should be open to tourists vary from individual(个别的,个人) to individual. Proponents(支持者) consider it beneficial(有意的) to both the university and the tourist. The university may be better understood by the visitor, which may enhance (提高)its reputation(名气) and help attract more talented applicants(申请人). On the other hand, young children, when absorbed(专注的) in the noble(高尚的,雄伟的) atmosphere(气氛), may be stimulated(刺激,激励) to work even harder to realize(实现) their dream of attending(前往,上) universities. Opponents(反对者) argue (争论,主张)that the inflow(流入量) of tourists may be a disturbance(扰乱) to normal(正常的,正规的) teaching activities. Every advantage has its disadvantage. In my viewpoint, the benefits(优点,好处) outweigh the drawbacks(缺点) on the condition that proper(适合的,适当的) visiting time is scheduled(预定的). Anyway, universities should not only be an ivory tower (象牙塔)to college students, but also a tourist attraction(游览圣地6) to all people. 【题目02】CET-4 (2006.12) Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Spring Festival Gala on CCTV. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、许多人喜欢在除夕观看春节联欢晚会; 2、有些人却提出取消春节联欢晚会; 3、在我看来…… 【范文】 Spring Festival Gala on CCTV The CCTV Spring Festival Gala is one of China’s most popular annual television events, watched by millions of people on the eve of the lunar New Year. However, in recent years, the 4-hour show is losing its appeal, especially to youngsters. People in increasing numbers choose not to watch the show. They claim that the stereotyped Gala should give way to diverse modern celebrations. However, some other people are faithful audience of it. They argue that the Evening Gala has somewhat become a tradition since it was initiated in the 1980s. What’s more, watching the show is an indispensable part of the festival for them. Though the Gala is no longer popular with young people, I myself enjoy watching the show with my family. Yet to maintain the interest of the young generation, the organizing committee should develop a program more exciting, more colorful and more entertaining the previous ones. For example, it's a good idea to invite some big names in China’s film and music industries to perform on the Gala stage. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled On Overseas Study. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、有人认为出国留学是个人发展的最佳选择; 2、也有人坚持在国内也能实现自己的理想; 3、我的看法 【范文】 On Overseas(海外) Study With the deepening(加深) of reform and opening-up(改革开放) of our country, many people dream of going abroad for further study. They insist(坚持认为) that the modern research facilities(先进的研究设备), world famous professors and excellent(优越的) environment in those foreign colleges and universities can help lay a perfect foundation(建立,基础) for their future development. However, there are still many people who favor(喜欢,赞成) studying at home. They argue that studying abroad is too expensive and therefore(因此) doesn’t pay. They also point out that there are no language and cultural barriers(障碍) of they study in our country. Just as the old saying goes, “Every advantage has its disadvantage.” Both opinions are acceptable(可接受的) in some sense(在某种意义上). If students have the chance and financial resources(财力), they should seize the opportunity(抓住…的机会) to go abroad and broaden (使… On the other hand, if conditions don’t permit(允许), they can pursue(追求,从事) their studies in top universities at home. What counts is not the place where they study, but what they can learn.(学习的价值不在于是在什么地方学习,而是学到了什么。) Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled My Opinion on Campus Love. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1. Some people are strongly against campus love. 2. Some people accept it. 3. My view. My Opinion on Campus Love Campus love isn’t a newly-born phenomenon. Some people are strongly against it while some other think it’s natural. I don’t advocate campus love for the following reasons. First of all, undergraduates are neither fully psychologically mature nor able to assume the responsibility, especially freshmen and sophomores. Second, they may indulge in it, thus dilapidating their study, which isn’t rare. Third, some just take advantage of it to kill time, to avoid boredom and to have someone keep company. What’s more, some change dating “partners” frequently, holding a paradox opinion that they could show off their charm or accumulate experience, but more often than not, they would leave a bad impression, such as lacking the sense of responsibility, on others, especially their former sweethearts. Last, the proportion of successful couples is too low. The overwhelming majority reach the same end-parting just before graduation, forced by reality. So, look before you leap. Discard camps love and make a wiser decision after graduation. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Computers in Students’ Flats. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、 现在大学生宿舍几乎人手一台电脑; 2、 有些人认为会促进学生的学习,有些人认为会影响学生的学习; 3、 你的看法 【范文】 Computers in Students’ Flats Nowadays, an increasing number of students’ flats have computers installed in them. Computer presents a vivid world in front of students. But there is no agreement among people concerning the effects of computers in students’ flats. Some people contend that computers in students’ apartments will have a bad influence on their study. Influenced by each other, students will become indulged in computer games or surfing the Internet without paying more attention on study. However, others maintain that computers in students’ apartments will promote their study. If they encounter some problems about study, they can log on the Internet and search for related information without going to ask for their teachers frequently. For my part, it is the most important thing for students to make proper use of the computers in dorms. While students enjoy the convenience of computers, they should be alert to problems of computers. Addicted to playing games or surfing aimlessly on the Internet will do much harm. Otherwise, any attempt to use computer for study will end up as nothing but an empty dream. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled How to Arrange Your Time at College? . You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、 对大学生的时间安排有两种看法:有人认为大学生就应该整天读书;有人认为参加体育锻炼是大学生生活的一部分; 2、 你的看法; 3、 总结全文 【范文】 How to arrange Your Time at College? Nowadays, people are divided on the question how students should arrange their school days. Some people claim students should spend the whole school days in academic studies. However, others contend physical exercise should be a required part of every school day. As for me, I will choose the latter without hesitation. Being a student, his or her main task is to work hard on his or her academic study. Only by studying hard can he or she obtain adequate knowledge from academic studies. Nevertheless, I don’t think a student should focus on studying too much, he or she should join in other meaningful activities. For instance, doing physical exercise is a good way to make students’ life more colorful and beneficial. In a word, when students gain knowledge from academic studies, they should not neglect to relax themselves and take regular physical exercise. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Is Frustration a Bad Thing? . You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、 有些人认为挫折是坏事; 2、 更多的人并不认为挫折是坏事; 3、 你的看法 【范文】 Is Frustration a Bad Thing? Some people think frustration is bad for people. They argue that constant frustration may lead to mental health problems. People suffering from such psychological problems may often resort to violence or suicide, which threatens the people around them and thus causes instability to the society. But others may not agree. They emphasize that it is rather beneficial to people. It inspires people to get over hardships and achieve their final goals. They often cite Thomas Edison as a case in point. In my opinion, frustration itself can not be regarded as good or bad. It is people’s attitude towards it that matters a lot. In our process of growing up, frustration is unavoidable and a test of our courage. If we harness it and take it as our source of inspiration, we may finally enjoy the glory of success. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Grades or Ability . You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、 有些人认为分数体现能力; 2、 有些人则认为分数不一定体现能力; 3、 你对此问题的看法 【范文】 Grades and Ability There is a heated discussion as to whether high grades indicate high ability. Some people think that grades can reflect students’ ability in their academic pursuit. The higher their grades, the cleverer they must be. For this reason, Students with high grades are often respected. On the other hand, there are many people who say that high grades don’t necessarily mean superior ability. The so-called excellent students sometimes are very low in solving practical problems while the so-called low students may show their intelligence in a special field. My own point of view is that grades are really important for most students because admission to key schools and colleges as well as successful application for well-paid jobs depend on good grades. However, grades are not the only standard for students’ abilities. In short, when students try to improve their grades, they should not neglect the ability to deal with practical problems. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Going on Studying or Going to Work? . You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、 有些人决定毕业后读研; 2、 有些人决定毕业后工作; 3、 我的看法 【范文】 Going on Studying or Going to Work Currently, the major dilemma which most students face upon graduation is to continue pursuing postgraduate studies or to find a job immediately. Those who decide to go to work immediately cannot wait to put what they have learned into practice. They believe that only by application can a person master knowledge in the real sense. Most important of all, they can live on their own and have the feeling of accomplishment for the first time. Other people, however, believe that if a person wants to be an expert in a specialized field, four year in university is far from enough. The best way is to choose a direction and study it in depth. It is not late at all when they go to work, because they start at a much higher level. No matter which choice a student will finally make, he has to be extremely careful to look into his unique situation and consult the professor for their advice. He will make the right choice if he knows his goal in life and how to turn it into reality. 01】(2006.6) Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled On Students Selecting Lecturers. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、 有些大学允许学生自主选择某些课程的任课老师; 2、 学生选择老师时所考虑的主要因素; 3、 学生自选任课教师的益处和可能产生的问题 【范文】 On Students Selecting Lecturers At present, in some colleges and universities, students are allowed to select lecturers on their own. It may someday become the main trend when people give more priority to academic freedom. Students would take three major elements into consideration when making selections. First of all, they will take lecturers’ teaching styles into account. Teaching styles to the students’ taste would help them learn more efficiently. Moreover, most students tend to choose lecturers with more experience, because such teachers tend to know more about how to stimulate and inspire students and will help them master their subjects with more ease. Last, students also put emphasis on the lecturers’ academic background. From their perspective, teachers with higher academic degrees may provide more enlightening suggestions. Everything has both positive and negative aspects, and students’ selecting lecturers is of no exception. It encourages students to be actively involved in the teaching process, and at the meantime, spurs teachers to improve their teaching quality. However, it is possible that some students would choose lecturers blindly without due guidance. And it is not uncommon that some teachers employ some abnormal devices to attract more students, such as promising higher marks or more “freedom” of attendance. Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Internet-Will It Finally Replace Written Documents and Communication?. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below: 1、 网络的发展给人们带来了许多便利; 2、 同时也带来了诸多弊端,还有人甚至会担心网络会最终取代书面文件和书面交流; 3、 你对该问题的看法 【范文】 Internet-Will It Finally Replace Written Documents and Communication? As the internet enters our life, many people use it to communicate and obtain information. So, a word “netizen” has been coined to refer to those who are always on the internet. The internet is playing an important role in IT industry, and it has brought people a lot of convenience. But because the internet is a double-edged sword, it also has many negative effects. For instance, those unhealthy items have passive influence on children and can lead to many crimes. What’s more, the Internet users may get addicted to it and do nothing all day except online surfing. Some people going to extremes even claim that the Internet will finally replace written documents and communication. I’m afraid I can’t agree with it .After all, there are a lot of things the Internet cannot do. Though the Internet can offer education to people, we cannot overlook the fact that interpersonal communication in education is very imp
