If you are a skydiving beginner, you'll need to read this article to learn which skydiving method to choose. There are three ways you can experience the thrill of skydiving and the only requirement is that you are at least eighteen years old and have a weight of less than 250 pounds. You also have to be free of any heart disease or severe medical conditions.
Skydiving courses, in most cases, work the same way. A qualified instructor will get you trained and he'll try to scare you and make you not jump. That's because the only thing he doesn't want is a student who panics while free falling. You'll then have to fill a lot of papers that you must go through and sign some documents if you want to jump. These are very scary but you'll have to sign them if you want to jump.
When choosing the method you'll first skydive, you have to consider how much time you have and how much cash you've got. The methods are tandem (双人跳伞) , static line(固定拉绳) and accelerated free fall. If what you want is to fly freely, you have to go for accelerated free fall. Just want a nice ride, tandem might be the best choice. If you just want a quick ride you can go for static line.
A good thing to take into consideration is videotaping your first jump, which costs from $50 to $100. You'll love looking back at how scared you were when jumping out of an airplane. If you choose to videotape your jump, another skydiver will jump before you do from the airplane and fly near you with a camera.

Not long ago, few little girls imagined they could grow up to become astronauts. For years in the United States, only men had that opportunity. In 1983, that changed. Sally Ride made history by becoming the first American woman to travel into space.
On Monday, Ride died at the age of 61. "Sally was a national hero and a powerful role model,” President Barack Obama said in a statement. “She inspired generations of young girls to reach for the stars."
Ride became interested in space when she was a kid. “If you asked me when I was 12 whether I wanted to be an astronaut, I’m sure I would have said yes,” she said in a 2010 interview. “But I didn’t even think about that as a possible career.”
After studying physics in college and graduate school, Ride got her chance. She was accepted into NASA’s astronaut training program in 1978, and then chosen to be the first American female in space. In 1983, she was sent into space aboard the Challenger shuttle. “There is no amusement park ride on Earth that even comes close,” she said.
Ride returned to space on the Challenger a second time in 1984. Between the two missions(使命), she spent a total of 343 hours in orbit. After that, she remained involved with the space program and also worked to share her passion for science with kids. She wrote five science books for children, and started her own science education company.
Ride knew that she held a unique place in history. “I realized how important it was for a woman to break that barrier(障碍) and open the door for other women to be able to do the same exciting things that the men had been doing,” she said.
