He has to get up early in the morning, after a quick breakfast he has to run to school and get there on time. His father hopes to borrow some money to buy a bike for him, but he knows his mother is always ill and his father spends much money on medicine. He doesn’t agree with him and keeps running there every day. Now he’s very strong and never late for class and his teachers often praise him.
Last week there was a sports meeting in his school. John ran faster than any other boy and won the boys’ 800 meters, 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters. The whole school knew him. His classmates and teachers felt very proud and he himself was very happy. He told his grandma about the good news as soon as he got home.

It’s known that most of pop stars’ fans are young people. But are those pop stars heroes of the young Chinese? A recent survey shows students in Fudan University have their own taste in heroes. Entrepreneurs(企业家) are the people that they admire(崇拜) most.
150 students from different grades and departments took part in the survey. 96 of them chose successful entrepreneurs as their heroes. Scientists and scholars(学者) are the second on their list. Only half of them chose stars of stage and screen. The result is different from the old idea that entertainment stars are the heroes of most college students.
Although Shang Wenjie, a graduate from Fudan University, became the champion of 2006 Super Girl singing contest, it seems that popular TV shows and new stars don’t have too much influence on Fudan students. They think heroes are the people who have done a lot for the people and the society.
The survey also shows that students have their new standards(标准) for choosing heroes. For example, some students chose common people and even fictional characters such as Harry Potter. Money, social status(地位) and fame are not the only standards they use to choose their heroes.

Tolerance just means that you should respect the differences in others and not try to make them change. It is important to practice tolerance, because it will make everyone’s life easier.
