8、ting background:It is based on what really happened to him in 1896.Crane was travelling from the US to Cuba as a newspaper correspondent(reporter).One night,his ship was hit by a sandbar and sank in the Atlantic Ocean,most people on board got into lifeboat,Crane was among the last to leave,there are

9、 three others with him:the ships captain,the cook and a sailor.Plot The story is about four people,a correspondent,a cook,an oiler and a captain,who were abandoned on the boundless sea,though they are extremely hungry and exhausted,they never gave up the desire to survive.they formed a team which ha

10、d a clear goal to get out of the plight.The captain who had a rich life experience is a leading figure,three other people were under command of the captain.The cook responsible for scooping water out of the ship,while correspondent and oiler were paddling,they work together tightly for the hope of s
