Ever thought about becoming a vegetarian? Perhaps the idea of giving up meat doesn’t appeal, but you may think twice after reading this. In reality, becoming a vegetarian can help a lot.
Being vegetarian could help the poor. A huge percentage of the world’s grain is fed to animals. Apparently, if just 10% of this was given to poor countries, it’d be enough to eradicate world famine.
Eating meat supports cruelty to animals. While it’s nice to think that animals are killed quickly and painlessly, it isn’t always true. Also, most livestock animals(家畜)spend their lives in small, cramped cages with no sunlight. Some, such as battery-farm chickens, are bred specifically for meat, and are given chemicals so they grow more quickly Yep! It’s a salad Recent studies have shown that pigscows sheep and chickens are actually smarter than cats and dogs animals that most people would never dream of eating. Cows can make lifelong friends with other cows, and show genuine excitement when they learn something new; and chickens and pigs have successfully completed complex tasks designed for chimpanzees.
Going vegetarian can help the environment. Producing meat causes more than 40 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions. That’s more than all the cars, trucks and planes in the world combined. The meat industry is also responsible for the destruction of forests (which are cut down to provide land for cattle), and it also creates pollution when transporting, manufacturing and packaging the meat. Cows also emit a lot of methane gas(甲烷), which is 23 times more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide. In fact, one Japanese study found that a kilogram of beef is responsible for more greenhouse gas than someone driving their car for three hours… as well as leaving all their lights on at home.
Finally, studies show that a meat-free diet is good for your health. The excessive consumption of meat can lead to high cholesterol (胆固醇)levels, and is also thought to be a major cause of serious health problems such as cancer and heart disease. In general, vegetarians are slimmer and they’re know to live six to 10 years longer than meat eaters. And it’s a myth(荒诞的说法)that vegetarians aren’t as strong or healthy as meateaters just ask Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who both agree that eating a vegetarian diet is a healthy way to live.
Going vegetarian helps feed the world, benefits animals, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Above all, going vegetarian is beneficial to our health. Why not become a vegetarian? Join us!

Numerous academic studies have proven the positive effects that office plants can have in indoor environments. But can regular office plants really help when it comes to reducing office noise?
The answer is yes, providing you know what you're doing. For example, one small lonely office plant on the end of your desk is not really going to have much impact on noise reduction, strategically positioned office plants or planted office displays can however help you to dim sound levels significantly.
Plants have been used for many years externally to help reduce the levels of traffic noise from reaching offices indoors. Recent years have however, seen an increase in the number of office plants being used inside business premises as a means to reduce the levels of noise generated inside a building.
If you find your noisy neighbor on the next desk more annoying than the drum of cars outside you will be pleased to hear that indoor office plants can also absorb or reflect background noise inside office buildings. Not only does this create a more comfortable workplace for employees but is also potentially more profitable for employers as employees that are less distracted(分心的)should be more productive.
Office plant parts can actually break up sound waves resulting in a change of direction, thus a reduction in the frequency of the sound. A study at the South Bank University even showed that common house and office plants could help to reduce noise levels by as much as 5 decibels!
The research carried out by the South Bank University in London, looked into the benefits of plants on acoustic levels and showed that plants were,m general, more efficient at absorloing noise at high frequencies. In comparison with other building materiais the plants proved themselves superior with specific praise going to the Dracaena Marginata(马尾铁树)and the Ficus Benjamina(垂叶榕).
