buying a tree instead?
2)Every year , approximately 1.6 billion rons of soil flows into the Yellow River,
China’s sencond largest river.
3)The soil contains materials to keep the natural balance of the area.
4)In some areas in Shanxi Province, this has destroyed almost all the land, and
has forced many local farmers to move to other areas.
5)It is a huge job to control Yellow River erosion.
6)In fact , it is you who have the most important role to play in stopping Yellow River erosion.
7)For a start , it can buy you a tree , which will help make soil stay on the land.
8)With the money they earn from their crops , farmers buy goods or
services.This helps to develop local economies.

Step 1. Greetings and self-introduction
Hello, everyone! I'm very happy to see you here. My first name is Liu .So you can call me Mr. Liu.Today we'll study together. And I hope we'll have a good time together.And I also hope that you'll work hard in this class .Do you think so ? Yes , I also think so . Now , let’s begin our class!
Step 2. Warming up
Ok, today we’re going to learn the reading part of unit 10. Before we learn it , I’ll show you some questions for you to answer.(Show the questions on the screen) Do you get pocket money from your parents? How much pocket money do you get each month? What things do you like to spend money on? What can you do with 5 yuan? Discuss them with your partners.
What can you do with 5 yuan? To answer this question, I’ll show you some pictures. (Show two pictures of the Yellow River) Do you think the water in the river is clear or not? The water is not clear, why?(Show another picture) Every year, approximately 1.6 billion tons of soil flows into the Yellow River.( Show a picture of soil erosion)This is soil erosion. Over time, much soil has been removed ,which has caused serious erosion of the land along the River. Do you think the crops can grow on the land ? No, the land is too poor. Draw a conclusion ：The soil is too poor to grow crops.(Show a picture)Then what can we do to prevent soil erosion? Answer：Plant trees .In fact you can spend your money more meaningfully; Then what can you do with 5 yuan? Buy some candies or cookies? I think you can use your 5 yuan to buy a tree to protect the environment and save our mother river. Do you think your 5 yuan can have so much effect? Now read the text.
Step 3.Reading
Now, turn to page 12 .Let’s look at the reading part: When less is more. Now you are given five minutes to read the newspaper article quickly and then match the topic sentence with each paragraph (Show the task on the screen). Do you understand? Yes, you can begin.(After that check the answers with the students).
Step 4 Reading
Ok . Next , you are given another five minutes to read the text carefully. I’ll ask you to answer some questions .Please read aloud.(Show the questions on the screen)

Step 5.Listening
Listen to the tape of the text carefully. Pay attention to the pronunciation and tones. Please listen！
Step 6.Fill in the table:
After listening , I ask you to fill in the table with the information from the text. You can discuss with your parterners.After checking the answers,ask Ss to read them aloud

Gudide: Is five yuan small or large ? Yes , it is small . But you have small five yuan , and he , she ,they also have five yuan . Every one uses the small five yuan to buy a tree to be planted on the banks of the Yellow River to prevent soil erosion ,so that there is much rich land on which farmers can grow crops .With the money from the crops ,farmers can buy goods and services and finally improve the local ecomomies and especially people’s lives . That is to say , small five yuan leads to big results.
