Y: I feel sick.
X: Do you? Just a minute. Let me get the airsick bag ready... Here.
Y: Thank you.
X: Shall I get you some water?
Y: No, thank you. I'll be all right as soon as the plane gets out of this turbulence.

字词词组精解
1.pale  a. 苍白的, 没有血色的
例: Mary looks pale.
(玛丽面色苍白。)
2.kind of...　　有一点……
＊本文中的kind of是副词, 表示『有一点』之意, 类似用法尚有"sort of", 其后均可接形容词、副词或动词。
   kind of   +   形容词    　　有一点……
   sort of         副词
                 动词
例: He is kind of ugly.
(他有点丑。)
James sort of wants to kiss me.
(詹姆士有一点想吻我的意思。)
注意:
a.the/a kind of及the/a sort of则是词组形容词, 后须接名词, 且名词前不可再有冠词, 因为kind of及sort of之前, 已有冠词"the/a"了。
例: Peter is the kind of a man who works hard. (　)
→Peter is the kind of man who works hard. (○)
  =Peter is the sort of man who works hard.
(彼得是个工作认真的人。)
b.在口语中, kind of (有一点) 常因连音关系说成kinda, 而sort of则说成sorta。
例: I feel kinda tired today.
(我今天觉得有点累。)
3.sick  a. 有病的, 欲呕的
sick这个字通常可用ill替代。
重要成语:  fall ill with...　　因……而病倒
例: He was sick yesterday.
  =He was ill yesterday.
(他昨天生病了。)
Tom fell ill with a bad cold.
(汤姆因重感冒而病倒了。)
4.airsick a. 晕机的
an airsick bag　　呕吐袋
例: Please put your airsick bag under your seat.
(请把呕吐袋放在座位下。)
类似的字尚有:
seasick a. 晕船的
carsick  a. 晕车的
例: Whenever I travel by boat, I get seasick.
(每次我搭船旅游都会晕船。)
5.as soon as...　　一旦……
例: As soon as I arrive in America, I will write you.
  =Once I arrive in America, I will write you.
  =The moment I arrive in America, I will write you.
(我一旦到美国就会写信给你。)
6.turbulence n. 大气的乱流
例: I spilled my drink during the turbulence.
(在乱流之中，我把饮料弄翻了。)
句型运用
1.What's the matter?　　怎么回事？
=What's wrong?
＊此句型通常用在看到有人出状况时询问对方的话。比如说哪天在河边看到一位姑娘嚎啕大哭, 此时, 雄哥的反应便是一个箭步窜过去, 用关爱的语气询问她:
"What's the matter?"
小姐, 怎么回事啊？
例: Tom:   Why are you crying? What's the matter?
Mary:  I didn't pass the examination.
(汤姆:  你怎么哭了，怎么回事啊？)
(玛丽:  我考试没过啊。)
2.Just a minute.　　请等一下。
＊这句话其实前面省略了please wait这两个字, 它的原来句型应是"Please wait just a minute." (请等一下。), 通常老美口语只说"Just a minute."与此同义的尚有"Just a moment."和"Just a second." (且慢, 请等一下。)
例: Tom:  See you tomorrow.
 Bob:   Just a minute. I want a word with you.
 (汤姆:  明天见。)
(鲍伯:  请等一下。我有话跟你说。)
3.Let me get the airsick bag ready.　　让我把呕吐袋准备好。
get sth ready　　将某物准备妥当
例: Let me get the camera ready.
(让我把相机准备好。)
