Teaching Plan Module1 Unit2 Lesson1 Period 1 Title Lesson1 National Hero (Reading Page22-23) Teaching Objectives Knowledge Aims 1. Know the launch of Shenzhou V and our national hero Yang Liwei’s activities in space. 2. Learn several key words and phrases. Ability Aims 1. Enable students to talk about the moving process of Shenzhou V and Yang Liwei’s activities in space to improve their oral skills. 2. Enable students to use the way of skimming and scanning to get general ideas and detailed information to help them improve their reading skills.  3. Enables students to learn to retell a text. Emotional Aims 1. Arouse the students’ pride in our space flight and our national hero. 2. Learn from our national hero and love our school and study hard in their daily life. Teaching importance 1 Practice retelling a text with what they learnt and their our knowledge. 2 Grasp the use of scanning and skimming to get general ideas and detailed information. Teaching difficulties 1. Students may have problems in skimming and scanning the text. 2. Students may have difficulties in expressing themselves in class. Indirect learning method Teaching procedures Teacher Students Purposes Pre-task 1 Warm up l Present some pictures of heroes and a heroine Ask: Do you know who she/he is? What is he/she? What are they?   Is he /she a hero/heroine? 2 Lead in l Present a picture and guess who he is. lAsk students how Yang went to space and present the picture of China’s first manned spaceship. l Look and enjoy the pictures. l Think and answer   l Think, look and say lWarm them up. lPresent some basic information about Yang and ShenzhouV lShift into the following teaching contents While-task Task 1 Skimming lSkim the passage and match the headings with each paragraph. (the 1st sentence of each paragraph ) a. Astronaut lands safely b. Welcome home c. International good wishes d. An exciting lift-off e. Introduction f. During the flight lCheck answers l Learn the reading strategies. lRead the text quickly and match. lSay out the answers. lImprove students’ reading speed and learn to use the way of skimming a passage to get main points of each paragraph. Task 2 Scanning Read Para1 together and find the background information: when: ________ where:_______ who: ________ what: _______ Task 3 Careful- reading l1.Read Paras2-6,circle the words related to a spaceship's moving (与……相关)process. l 2. Read Paras2-6 again underlining the words related to Yang Liwei’s activities, and fill in the following table. Task4 Retelling Look at the pictures and retell : ---moving process of Shenzhou V ---Yang Liwei’s activities. E.g When Shenzhou V… Yang Liwei… (Attention: Try to use the new words or phrases 短语) lRead, look at the pictures and blackboard and try to retell. lExamine their reading result. lTrain the students’ ability in retelling. lImprove students’ spoken English. l Consolidate the contents for this lesson. Post- task Task 5 Watch a video and discuss What kind of people do you think a hero/heroine should be? Useful expressions: in my opinion/personally/ I think… selfless, patriotic, peace-loving, calm, brave, hard-working, generous, full of exploring spirits… Summary Yang Liwei is a real hero. He is not afraid of death. He is so brave ,calm ,selfless, patriotic ,peace-loving… What can we do in our daily life? Learn from our role model— Love our country ,school… Be brave enough to overcome difficulties and study hard. l Watch and think carefully. lGroup discussion. lReport. l Listen carefully and think again lEncourage students to think and express themselves bravely in class. lTeach students and learn from our role model. Assignment Compulsary(必做的) task: A. Read the text and write down your opinion about Yang Liwei or other astronauts. B. Finish Ex.7 on P22.
