1. bet v. 打赌；敢说 过去式 bet或betted
I bet (you) that she will come. 我 (跟你) 打赌断定她会来。
I bet (you) that this is true. 我可以(跟你)打赌这是真的。
I bet you ￥100. 我跟你赌一百元。
2. ★名词+y = 形容词
(1)直接加y: rain—rainy; snow—snowy; wind—windy; cloud—cloudy;
luck—lucky; health—healthy
(2)双写加y: fog —foggy; sun—sunny; fun—funny
(3)去e加y: noise—noisy; taste—tasty
★名词+ly = 形容词
friend—friendly; week—weekly; day—daily; love—lovely
★形容词+ly=副词
(1) 直接加ly: careful—carefully; slow—slowly；usual—usually
(2) 改y为i加ly: easy—easily; lucky—luckily; happy—happily
3. butterfly —(pl.) butterflies 蝴蝶
Many kinds of butterflies are flying among the flowers. 许多种蝴蝶在花丛中飞。
4. shower 【c】n. 阵雨；阵雪 ( a sudden rain)；淋浴
The weather report says there may be a shower this afternoon.
天气预报说今天下午可能有阵雨。
It is only a shower. Besides, we can take a shower after we go home.
那只是阵雨而已，再说，我们可以回家后淋浴嘛。
5. memory —(pl.) memories 记忆，回忆
That man has a very poor memory. 那个人的记忆力很差。
Young people have good memories. 年轻人记忆力强。
6. stream n. 小河（= small river），溪流
We crossed some streams. 我们跨（或涉水）过了几条小溪。
7. shade 【u】n. 阴凉处，树荫处
There isn't much shade here. 这儿阴凉地儿不多。
It's very hot today. Let's sit in the shade under the tree. 今天很热，咱们坐在树荫下面吧。
8. pile n. 堆
a pile of books 一堆书; two piles of books 两堆书
9. upon = on 在……之上
fall into piles upon/on the ground 落地成堆
Once upon a time there lived in the forest three bears. 从前在森林里住着三个狗熊。
10. harvest v. 收割，收获；
n. 丰收，收获 get in a good harvest一个好收成
If you have nothing to do, help me harvest wheat. 假如你没事，帮我收小麦。
Last year we all helped the famers with the harvest. 去年我们帮助农民收庄稼了。
11. crop n. 庄稼，收成 grow crops 种庄稼 harvest crops 收庄稼
The farmers are busy harvesting the crops in the field.
农民们正在田里忙着收获庄稼。

As they got off the bus, the sun was shining brightly.

13. temperature n. 温度

14. drop vi. & vt 下降，落下 dropped dropping drop a little 降一点

The temperature dropped a lot yesterday. 昨天温度降了许多。
15. rise vi. 上升；升起 rose (过去式) The sun rises in the east. 太阳从东方升起。
16. cloud n. 云 cloudy adj. through the clouds 穿过云层

17. kick vt. 踢 kick a ball 踢球
18. fever n. 发烧 have a (high) fever 发高烧

26.degree n. 度数
The temperature is around 10 degrees today. 今天温度是10度左右。
27 .bit n. 一点， 少量 a bit 有一点
This coat is a bit large for me. 这件外套对我来说有点大。（后接形容词 a bit =a little）
There is a bit of water in the cup. 杯子里有一点点水。 （后接名词 a bit of = a little）
28.blow v. 吹、 刮 （过去式 blew）
blow out the candle 吹灭蜡烛
The wind is blowing hard/heavily. 风在猛烈地吹。
29.loud adv. 大声地 speak louder 大声点说 speak in a loud voice 大声说
talk louder 大声地说 Don’t shout loudly. 别大声嚷嚷。
30.ring vt.& vi. ring rang
给……打电话 Please ring me(up) if you have time. 有空请给我打电话。
响起铃声 When the phone rang ,they were talking. 电话铃响的时候他们正在谈话。
31.sleepy adj. 困倦的， 瞌睡的(sleepier, sleepiest) I’m sleepy now.
He is sleepier today than yesterday.
32.shine n. 光亮， 光泽 The floor has a bright shine. 地面闪闪发光。
