英语时态语态知识总结
　　1．1 时态 (tense)
　　针灸英语和其它医学英语一样，多数情况下使用的是一般现在时或一般将来时。一般现在时是用来说明客观世界的发生、开展和结果等事实，它描述的事物往往具有某种内在特征，它不以人的意志而改变。也就是说它往往陈述的是一个客观事实。针灸汉英翻译使用最常见的时态就是一般现在时。
　　例 1 湿为长夏主气。
　　Dampness si the main climatic factor of the late summer．
　　例 2 气为血之帅。血为气之母。
　　Qi is the coInlTlander of blood and blood is the mother of qi．
　　1．2 语态(voice)
　　针灸英语只是对发现、试验等进展客观陈述，它表达或论述的重点是事实、现象和过程，而不涉及有关的人，不是某人对某事的主观看法 ，因此针灸英语中常用被动语态。被动语态不仅可以使表达和论述显得客观，而且可以突出动作的对象。
　　例3 取任脉经穴为主，重用灸法，以回阳固脱。
　　Moxibustion is applied to the points of Concep— ion Vessel to restore Yang from collapse ．
　　例 4 针刺操作 ，需双手协作进展。右手持针,进展针刺操作，称为刺手；左手按压穴位部分，帮助针刺 。称为押手。
　　The needle should be ed ~rdinately with the help of both hands．Generally itisheld with the right hand known as the puncturing hand．The left han d known as the pressing han d pushes firmly against the area close to the point．
　　例 5 虚那么补之 ，实那么泻之。
　　Reinforcing is applied in ca．Se of deficiency．The excess syndromeistrea ted by the red ucing method．
　　译文 中的 “is applied”“be ed”“is held”“is treated”等几处都使用了被动语态，主动语态在科技英语文献中很少使用，而在科技汉语文献中却很少使用被动语态，从上面的这些汉语(古汉语尤甚)例句中没有被动语态的使用就可明白。
　　1．3 语气(mood)
　　在针灸汉英翻译过程中，常使用 should，must， can，would等情态动词(modal verb)。
　　例 6 在运针过程中，医生要全身放松，使气下沉至丹田穴，自然呼吸 ，不要屏气。

　　例 7 阴和阳都不能脱离对方而单独存在。
　　Neither yin or yang can exist in isolation．
　　例 8 重阴必阳，重阳必阴。
　　Extreme yin will necessarily prod uce yang and vice versa．
　　例 9 阴无阳不生，阳无 阴不长。
　　Without yang therew o u1d be no prod uction of yin．W ithout yin therew ould be no production of yang.
　　在针灸英语中一些表示可能出的问题以及为防止引起副作用所采取的措施，其内容涉及到针法灸法时常使用表示应该 (should)，必须 (must)，能够 (can)、可能(would)等情态动词。
