An eight-year-old child heard her parents talking about her little brother. They said he was very sick and they had no money. Only a very expensive operation (手术) could save him now and nobody would lend them the money.
When she heard her dad say to her mother, “Only a miracle (奇迹) can save him now,” the little girl went to her bedroom and take out all her money from the drawer and then ran to a drugstore with the money in her hand.

In the 1910s, bikes were luxuries (奢侈品), and they became a means of transportation for the Chinese in the 1980s. Now they’re still popular for their zero carbon emissions (低碳) all over the world. This is because bicycles don’t pollute the air. It is also an excellent way of exercise. At present, there are about 1,000,000,000 bicycles in the world. Many people in Asia and Europe use their bicycles when taking short trips.
In Belgium (比利时), if people go to work by bike, they will be paid 20 euro cents (欧分) per kilometer. More than 270,000 people took part in the project last year, up from 140,000 in 2006.
In London, there has always been a main problem — the traffic problem. In order to solve this problem, the government has decided to have a bike revolution (革命). It has decided to provide 6,000 bikes for the people to rent. The government encourages local people to ride bikes in order to solve the traffic problem.
Paris has the world’s largest city cycle rental system (租用系统). People say that Paris will become “a green capital of bikes” and they plan to park 20,000 bicycles at 1,600 stations. Paris creates this plan to improve the city traffic environment.
In China, there are bike rental stations in some big cities, too. These stations work for 24 hours every day. Local people and visitors can get these bikes at special parking stations. So a bike is rented for many times a day. In this way, lots of people can use bikes a day.
For us, riding bikes is sure to be popular and it’s a good way to improve the traffic environment. Now more and more people ride their bikes around the world. But how to park bikes is a problem that we will face.
