Step 1 Lead-in
1. Greet the class with a smile.
2. Make a conversation between Teacher and Students.
T: Most of us like music.A piece of soft music makes us feel relaxed. Loud music may make us feel boring and an exciting one makes me happy and excited. What kind of music do you like?Why?
Ss:  don’t like loud music .It makes me angry.

Step2 Brainstorm
T: What is your hobby?
S: I like playing basketball .
T: Why?
S:Because it is relaxing.

Present some adjectives on the blackboard one by one( have a brainsto-
rm):happy ,sad ,excited ,relaxed ,nervous ,sick ,energetic, stressed, tense,comfortable...
Step3 Presentation
Show some pictures to students and ask:
How do you feel about picture1?(picture 1 is an exciting basketball game)
S: Excited.
T: It makes me excited. (make+宾语+形容词）
Show other pictures to students and guide them to say .
It makes me happy.
It makes me awful.
Step 4 .practice
1. Look at the picture in 1a and describe:
Rockin Restaurant has red walls,ugly paintings on the walls.and loud music. The blue lagoon has blue walls,plants,flowers,and a piano player
2. T: Which would you like to go? Why ?
S1: I’d like to go to the Blue lagoon because I don’t like loud music. It makes me angry.
S2: ‚I’d like to go to the Blue Lagoon because I like quiet music just like the girl in the picture does. It makes me feel tense.

Step5 Listening(1b)
Play the recording the first time ,ask students to complete the task of 1b .
Have students check the answer with a partner.
Play the recording a second time ,ask students to read after it.
Step 6 Pairwork (1c)
Read the sentences in 1c to students and explain some important points:
Would rather + do sth 宁愿...... Would rather not do sth.
Have students express their own opinions according to Amy’s and Tina’s opinions
Give some praises to good students who are better at expressing opinions.
Step7 Extension (an activity)
On weekends, where would you like to go to eat or play?why or why not?
For example:I would rather go to the park on the weekend because it makes me relaxed ,I don’t like to go to see a movie .It makes me bored.
