Lecture Notes for Recycle 1 Read and Say PEP Primary English Book 8 Good afternoon, everyone, It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. The content of my lesson is read and say in recycle 1 of PEP primary English book 8. I’ll be ready to begin this lesson from five parts. Analysis of the teaching material, the circumstances of students、the teaching methods, the studying methods, the teaching procedures, and the gain and loss of this period .First, let me talk about the teaching material. Part 1 Teaching Material: This unit is one of the two units that are used to review the main language points learnt in previous eight books. By studying of this unit, we’ll Enable the students to consolidate the those significant language items and help students build up the confidence in English learning. As the first lesson of the review unit, it plays an important part in the general review for the whole knowledge points. If the Ss can learn it well, it will be helpful to make the Ss learn the rest of review unit well. According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus, after studying the teaching material and analyzing the rule of children’s growing of mind, I think the teaching aims are the followings: 1.Knowledge objects: a)To review the interrogatives:where/who/when/how/what b)to brush up the concerned structures: where are you going?/who are you going with?/what are you going to do there?/how is your family going there?/when are you going? c)to go over the grammar: the usage of “be going to”. 2.Ability objects: (1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of getting other’s plan by using of the relevant language points (2) To train the Ss’ how to use their own words to express his/her own or other’s holiday plan The knowledge items mentioned above are of great significance that should be attached great importance as they are the fundamental constituents to achieve the ability objectives. As for the difficult point, that’s to express one’s own or retell other’s holiday plan at willing on the basis of mastering the related language points. Well, how to achieve the teaching objects better, how to stress the important points and break through the difficult points? As is known to us all, The modern teaching demands the teacher should improve the students’ ability. A good teaching method requires that the teacher should have the leading effects. According to the analysis of the teaching material and the students’ learning background ,I will use the following methods . Part 2 the circumstances of students Most students can understand and speak some fundamental daily-use English sentences, however, few of them are capable of making free communication with these sentences kept in their mind and the pronunciations of some words still make them confused. Part 3 Teaching Methods and Studying Methods: In my opinion, the main instructional aims of learning English in the Primary School is to help the students accumulate the basic English language knowledge and then develop the students’ original abilities of listening, speaking, reading, and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use “Communicative” Approach, “Whole language teaching” and “Task-based” language teaching). That is to say, I’ll let the Ss to get a better understanding of the key structure of the dialogue with the basic language points mastered as the premise. According to the modern social communication teaching theories, I adopt the TSA method and TBLT method in my teaching, namely Total Situational Action and Task-based Language Teaching. As a students in Grade 6 in primary school ,they have a certain ability to listen and speak. And the plan for a big trip in a long holiday can arouse students learning emotion, as it’s the children’s natural instincts to play. As for the learning methods, they are poor in cooperative learning skills. Some students are not active in the class ,and some students don’t like English. therefore, I ’ll have Ss study in a relaxed atmosphere. Ss understand the new knowledge in certain degree through the mental process of seeing, hearing, saying, observing, thinking etc. And make preparation for completing the new study task. After feeling and understanding the language points, In a word, I’ll teach the Ss how to be successful language learners and let the Ss pass "Observation—Imitation—Practice " to study language. 3.Teach the Ss how to master dialogues and how to communicate with others. Part 4 Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Preparation. At the beginning of the class, free talk are designed both to set an atmosphere useful for an English class and elicit the interrogatives to be reviewed. Step 2 Presentation. In this stage, the students are exposed mostly in the significant structures and some useful expressions which help them recall the relevant language points learnt during the previous time Step 3 Practice. The dense practice are needed here to consolidate the important language points and break through the difficult ones. Step 4 Production It’s the change to the third person and the activity(make a plan and report) that push the whole class into a summit. Step 5 Progress To summarize the whole lesson, and arrange the homework. As teachers, to make our English classrooms shine with vitality, we are laid with heavy burden, and we still have long way to go. Above is the lecture notes of my lesson. Thank you very much!
