technical prescriptions for wheeled vehicles, equipment and parts which can be fitted and/or be used on wheeled vehicles and the conditions for reciprocal recognition of approvals granted on the basis of these prescriptions.Addendum 43:Regulation no.44-Uniform provisions concerning the approval of restraining devices for child occupants of power-driven vehicles(”child restraints system”)3 Terms and definitions 3.9 access zone Add the following sentence:For vehicles designed only for children under 6 months, pram bodies with a maximum internal length of 800 mm,and for group O/O+car seats, the access zone is considered to be only the inner upper surface that supports the child First part of Figure 1 changed as follows EN 1888:2003/A2:2005(E)4 Add the following definitions:3.19 braking device device to reduce the speed of the vehicle 3.20 platform integral part of the vehicle designed to support an additional child in a standing position 4.1 Samples Add the following paragraphs:Unless otherwise specified, the combination pushchairs shall fulfil all the requirements set in this standard. The combination with a car seat may be tested on a separate sample.Car seats dimensions are in millimetres and the tolerances are(-0,0/+1,0).The test mass shall be made of steel.EN 1888:2003/A2:2005(E)7 6 Construction Add the following sentence at the end of 6.1.2.1:Paragraph 6.1.2.1 b)on foot entrapment requirement applies to the platform and between the upper surface of the platform and the chassis.6.2.3.1 Requirements add:b)any seat unit conforming to the requirement of pram body,or where the angle between the backrest and the seat(angle in figure 9)is capable of adjustment to an angle of 150 or more measured according to 6.2.3.2 and equipped with an integral restraint system adjustable to the size from birth and complying to clause 15.6.3.3 Modify the title as follows:Inadvertent release of the pram body or seat unit Replace the text by the following:Inadvertent release is avoided when the weight of the child acts against the detachment of the pram body or seat unit and the attachment of the pram body or seat unit fulfils one of the following requirements:a)a minimum force of 50 N is required to release the attachment device attaching the pram body or seat unit to the chassis or,b)at least 2 consecutive actions are required to release the pram body or seat unit or to release the attachment device, the first of which shall be maintained while the second is carried out or,c)at least 2 independent simultaneous actions are required to release the pram body or seat unit or the attachment device;d)more than two independent actions are required to release the pram body or seat unit. The requirement is checked by using the relevant mass in the product.7 Stability 7.1 Requirements Add the following sentence at the end of the sub-clause:Vehicles fitted with a platform shall not tip over when tested in accordance with 7.2.2.6.7.2.2.1 Positioning of the vehicle Replace the term platform by test surface.Add the following second and third paragraphs:For wheeled child conveyances with triangular shaped chassis, the positioning of the vehicle for testing the sideway stability shall be as follows:Place the vehicle on the test surface inclined to an angle of 12 to the horizontal without the parking device applied. The line through the points of contact of the front wheel and the lowest rear wheel shall be perpendicular to the slope. The stops shall be positioned as indicated in Figure 7.2.2.1.EN 1888:2003/A2:2005(E)8 For swivelling wheels Non swivelling wheels Figure 7.2.2.1-Positioning of triangular shaped chassis In 7.2.2.2,7.2.2.3,7.2.2.5,replace platform by test surface.Add:7.2.2.6 Stability of pushchairs fitted with a platform The test shall be carried out on a pushchair with and without test masses A or B on the seat unit/pram body.Place the test mass G uniformly distributed over the platform. The test mass shall be maintained along the platform with a rigid bar.The vehicle is placed on a horizontal surface.Apply a force of 50 N vertically downwards in the middle of the handle. For separate handles, connect the handles with a rigid bar and apply the force in the middle of the bar.9 Handle 9.1 Requirements Add a new second paragraph as follows:Pushchairs fitted with a reversible and/or adjustable handle shall still conform to the requirements, after testing in accordance with 9.3.Add the following third paragraph:After testing in accordance with 9.3,handles or part test mass G and fix it uniformly putting the middle point of the test mass G base about the centre line on the platform.Test according to 9.2 is not applicable to baby carriers fitted with two wheels or set of wheels.Add the following sub-clause:9.3 Test for Dynamic resistance for the handle Restrain the vehicle in such a way that any existing suspension does not absorb any movement and force when moving the handle. All handle locking devices shall be locked.Attach a flexible cable at the handle,200 mm off centre or,in the case of individual handles,to one individual handle,or,if the measurement is not possible,in the most onerous position.Lead the cable via pulleys in such a way that a force at an angle of 90 in the direction of folding can be applied.Attach test mass B to the other end of the cable and allow it to hang down freely(see Figure 9.3).Allow the mass to reach a state of equilibrium.Lift the mass 100 mm upwards and let it fall down freely.Repeat the test fixing the cable at the other side of the handle, respectively at the other single handle.Reverse the handle and repeat the above procedure.EN 1888:2003/A2:2005(E)10 Dimensions in millimetres Figure 9.3-Test for Dynamic resistance for the handle 10 Parking devices Replace the title of Clause 10 by“Parking and braking devices”10.1 Requirements Add the following at the end of this sub-clause:If the vehicle has a braking device,then:-the user shall be able to activate the braking device when he/she is walking;-when braking and parking devices are combined in one mechanism, the action to activate the braking device shall be different from the action to activate the parking device.Braking action shall not activate the parking device. The platform shall not impede accessibility to the operating part of the parking device. For the different tests with a slope, indicate the following:For vehicles fitted with a platform, the test shall be performed with the test mass G positioned as described in 9.2 on the platform in the most perpendicular position with respect to the ground when the vehicle is positioned on the slope. There shall not be any link or handle bar closed to impede the possibility to the child to comes out freely from the platform.10.2 Test procedures In 10.2.1.1,replace platform by test surface.10.2.2 General test conditions At the end of this sub-clause add the following sentence:For baby carriers fitted with wheels, parking device test according to 10.2 is carried out using test mass E described in 4.5.2.6.EN 1888:2003/A2:2005(E)11 10.2.5 Vehicle perpendicular to the slope Test conditions to be changed as follows:If the vehicle is fitted with swivel wheels then:-any swivel wheels on the handle end shall be locked-the swivel wheels opposite to the handle shall be unlocked and placed in the position they would normally assume when the vehicle travels in the direction it is facing.14.2 Test Modify as follows the second paragraph:Place test mass A at the bottom of a pram body or group 0 car seat or test mass B in a seat unit or test mass F in a group 0+car seat and secure it in a central position.15 Restraint system and fasteners Add the following sentence at the end of 15.1.1:As car seats shall comply with ECE 44 regulation, the requirements set in 15.2 do not apply to their restraint system.17.1 Requirements Add the following paragraph:The devices used to connect the pram body or the seat unit to the chassis shall not become disconnected, loosened or damaged during or after testing.17.3 Test Add the following paragraph:For vehicles fitted with a
