　　【辨析】这几个词语均用来表示位置，但用法有别。
　⑴on 作介词，常用于表示方位和地点，侧重指紧贴着某物，意为“在……上面”。例如：
　　There are some flowers on the teacher’s desk. 在教师的讲桌上有一些花。
　　There is a map of China on the wall. 墙上有一张中国地图。
　　注意：在美式英语中，表示“在街上”用介词on，但在英式英语中，则常用介词in。例如：
　　The Greens live on(in) Wall Street. 格林一家住在华尔街上。
　　Their house is on(in) that street. 他们家就在那条街上。
　⑵across from 相当于介词，在美式英语中表示“在……的对面；在……的对侧”，表示此含义时，在英式英语中也可以只用across。例如：

注意：between 后面也可以接代表两者的复数名词或代词。例如：
　　The video arcade is between two shops. 电子游戏中心在两个商店之间。
　　They are twins. I can’t tell the difference between them.
　　他们是双胞胎，我看不出他们之间的区别。
