The teaching design of “Mary and three bears” Ⅰ The background information Ⅱ Type of the lesson Reading (1) Ⅲ Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: 1. Read, recognize and use the new words and sentences well. 2. Get more detailed information of the passage. 3. Summarize the story to others by retelling. 4.拓 5. Experience the feeling of success and cooperate with others in activities. 6. 情 Ⅳ Teaching content A reading passage about… Different kind of reading skills. Ⅴ Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty 1 Get the detailed information of the passage. 2 Summarize the passage by retelling. 3 情感 Ⅵ Teaching procedures Step1. Warming- up: Brain storming(2-3minutes) The students are encouraged to sing a song (或者是小诗歌,比赛时自编也看可以)with me. Just like this: 教师唱两句。Then I will ask them some questions about this song. T: Boys and girls, do you like this song? T: What is the song about?提炼出歌曲与本课主题有关的东西。 T: So today we are going to talk about …..(引出本课的标题) T: Look at this picture. Say anything you want to say.(此处要想个更有创意的头脑风暴30秒不停说) (Purpose: Arouse the students’ curiosity of this lesson and create a kind of lively atmosphere and circumstances. Brain storming can activate the student’s Prior knowledge and lay solid foundation on the following part.) Step 2. Pre-reading: Predict and ask questions (2-3mins) 1.Predict the main idea of the passage Ask the students look at the picture and guess the main idea of this passage . T: Which one is the main idea of the passage? A: B: C: 2. Ask questions according to the title. Ask the students to think about the title and guide them to ask questions they want to know. T: What do you want to know? You may ask some questions. Where…? What …? How …? (Purpose: Encourage students to predict and the main idea of the passage actively, and guiding them to ask questions can activate their learning enthusiasm. Try to make the following reading parts successfully) Step3. While reading 1. Fast-reading(2-3mins) In the fast-reading part, I give the students 2 very simple questions. (1). Where is the girl? (2). What does she meet ? T: Yes. This is a forest. Mary meets three bears. (Purpose: Get the main idea of the passage by fast reading and express the main idea. So the questions can not be very difficult and it can focus the students’ attention and give them confidence) 1. Careful-reading Careful reading(1):Listen, read and circle(4-5mins) T: What is in the house? What is on the table? Please listen, read and circle the things. A:给学生提供图片而不是单词。 B: C: Careful reading(2): Read and fill(5-6mins) T: How are the soups? How are the beds? Please read and fill in the blanks. (此处复制PPT) Careful reading(3): Read, discuss and write (4-5mins) 比赛时根据内容而定,也有可能是read and underline,. T:Why is the girl afraid of the bears? Please discuss in groups and then write your answer on the paper. (Purpose: This step is one of the most important part in this lesson. It is used to train the students’ ability to scan the context for details. So they should read very carefully and try their best to get the detailed imformation as much as possible. And this part can help the students have a better understanding of the reading material.) 3. Read and imitate(3-4mins) T: Now let’s read the passage loudly. Please pay attention to the emotion. (Purpose: It is to make sure the students can read and recognize the new words and the sentences. And it can facilitate the Ss’ abilities to pronounce the words and pay more attention to the intonation.) 4. Practice time(4-5mins) (1) I can judge (此处复制PPT) (2) I can say(PPT10) T: Now work in groups of four. Each of you say a sentence about the story.. The others judge (此处复制PPT) (Help them practise and cosolidate the infromation from the passage and prepare for the production part) 5. Show time: Retell the passage(3-4mins) 复制PPT Ask the students to use their own words to tell us something about the whole passage. T: Boys and girls, now, we have known much about the passage. Can you use your own words to retell this story? (Purpose: Foster the students ability of summarizing a passage, practise their spoken English and parepare for the next part.) Step4. Post reading (3mins) Work with group members and… T: ……….Please work with your group members and make a report in front of the classroom. (Purpose: Create a kind of proper situation for them and that is the way to check them whether they can use what they learned today. Try to encourge every student to take part in this part. Let them experience the feeling of success and cooperate with others in activities ) Step5. Summary (2mins) 1. Recap with the class about what has been taught so far. 2. Emotional education 3. Ticking time (Purpose: Here the emotional education will be realized. The students have a and feel the success and satisfaction of learning English. ) Step 6.Home work(choose and challenge) (1mins) 1. 2. 3. 4. (Purpose: Homework is designed in different levels. The students can choose what they can do and challenge what they can’t do. Homework is essentialto consolidate what we have learned during the class and prepare for the next lesson ) Ⅶ Teaching aids Blackboard, objects, chalk, PPT, pictures and video. Ⅸ Teaching reflection Blackboard design(从PPT截图,这样节省时间,只在PPT上面做就可以了。) The end: Time is limited. So there must be lots of shortcomings. I hope you can give me some advice. Thank you very much!
