Teaching Report Teacher: Niu Huiyan Students:Grade 6 Content: English This Way,Book 11, Lesson 7 Happy Halloween (the first period) Good morning , judges, ladies and gentlemen, My number is________. I’m very glad to stand here and talk about my plan for teaching ,which is from English This Way Book 11,Unit 3 Lesson 7 “Happy Halloween”. As we all know ,the main instructional aims of teaching English in primary school is to cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of their listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language. In the class, the teacher should train the pupils’ ability of working in groups and foster Ss’ abilities of communication and their innovation. According to this, my teaching report includes ______ parts.    Part Ⅰ. To analyze the teaching material. 1. Status and Function (a) In this unit, we mainly talk about festivals. Ps can know the western festivals: Halloween , Thanksgiving Day, Christmas . (b) This lesson is the first lesson of Unit 3. It is very interesting .It can stimulate puplis to learn more about western culture and Chinese culture. 2. About the Lesson (a) The main topic of this lesson is Halloween. During this period, Ps will know the festival ,Halloween. (b) Such a topic is so interseting, so it is helpful to raise learning interests of Ps and it will be also helpful to improve their spoken English. (c)This is the first lesson for Ps . It’s a new lesson .The central item is to say the new words in right pronunciations and to master the new sentence patterns. Part Ⅱ To analyze the pupils. They have already learned English for about six years,they have strong curiosity and the sense of competition. They are willing to take part in various teaching activities. According to the features of pupils, teaching should be diverse to catch the pupils’ attention . I will give more time to Ps, they can learn English in cooperation and by themselves. Part Ⅲ. Teaching aims and demands. According to the teaching outline and combining the Ps’ situation. I make the teaching aims of this lesson as follows. 1. Aims on the knowledge (a) Ps can listen clearly and speak out these new words in right pronunciations: ( pumpkin, jack-o’-lantern, bat,ghost,devil,witch,clown) (b)Pupils can master and use the sentence patterns in right way. Is it a pumpkin? Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t. Is this a bat ? Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t. Is that a devil? Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t. ( c)Pupils can know the history of Halloween .  2. Aims on the abilities (a) Pupils can use the sentence patterns and the new words to communicate. (b) Pupils can play the game : trick or treat. (c) Develop students’ abilities of listening and reading and speaking and train students’ ability of working in groups.        3. Aims on the emotion Help Pupils to know the festivals and the cultures of eastern countries . Help Pupils to know the different cultures of different countries .      Part IV. Important points Help students to master the target words and sentence structures.      Part V . Difficult points         Help pupils to read the new words in right pronunciations and to use the new sentence patterns in right way and how to distinguish the sentence patterns:Is this / that a ghost? Part Ⅵ. Teaching methods.    Make the Ps take part in class, the Ps ask and answer in pairs and groups, I’ll apply the Communicative teaching method, Task-based reading method and TPR teaching methods. Part Ⅶ Teaching  Aids. In order to interest the students, I’ll use CAI , pictures, masks and many candies. PartⅧ Teaching Procedures Step 1: Warming up and lead in. 1. Divide the pupils into 4 groups, (Red Team, Yellow Team, Blue Team and Black Team.) Before class, each group says out their team name loudly. T: There are four groups in our class. So ,I will divide four teams. Red team, yellow team, blue team and black team. T:Red team ,(大声喊) yellow team, blue team ,black team. Ss: Yes! (配合肢体动作)We are red team…….. Purpose: Divided into red yellow blue black four team in order to arouse students' competitive consciousness study, classroom learning atmosphere is better. 分成红黄蓝黑四队为了激发学生学习的竞争意识,课堂学习气 氛更好。 2.Greetings and duty report. Describe one festival. T: What festivals do you know? Ps: The Spring festival……… T:Look, what festival is it? (PPT) Ps:Halloween. T:Good.Read after me,Halloween. Ps: T:Halloween,Halloween. Ps: T:What festival is it? Ps:It is Halloween. T:Good,When is Halloween? Ps: T:It is on October 31st. Purpose: By the teachers and students and start the new lesson today, and by the helper Duty Report which leads to the holiday, lead to new lesson by festival, Halloween. 设计意图:由师生问答开始今天的新课,并由值日生Duty Report引出节日,由节日引出新课——Halloween。 Step 2:Presentation. 1. Present new words:pumpkin, jack-o’-lantern, bat,ghost,devil,witch and clown. At the same time, present new sentences patterns. I’ll use PPT, masks , word cards and body language in the class . T:Halloween is a very old festival. On that day,some things are necessary.Do you know Halloween?What can you see on Halloween?Ps: Ps discuss Halloween and answer teacher’s questions.And then ,teach the new words and sentences patterns. 设计意图:通过讨论,让孩子们对万圣节有进一步的了解,从而激起学习的热情。 Purpose: Through discussion, let the children have a further understanding on Halloween, so as to arouse enthusiasm of study. Look ,what is it?(PPT) Ps:Pumpkin. T:Good.It is a pumpkin.Listen and say.(tape) , pumpkin…….. Ps:Pumpkin……… T:Who can say “pumpkin”? P1: P2: ………………………….. T:What colour is the pumpkin? Ps:It is orange. T:Good.It is orange. T:Is it a pumpkin? Ps:Yes, it is. T:Is it a pumpkin? Ps:Yes, it is. T:Let’s read together. Ps: Is it a pumpkin? Yes, it is. (twice) Purpose: Use PPT to stimulate children's eyeball, besides the teaching of new words, which leads to the first sentence patterns . 设计意图:利用PPT刺激孩子们的眼球,新单词教学的同时,引出今天的第一 个句型:Is it a pumpkin? Yes, it is./ No, it isn’t. T:Look, What is it? Ps:It is a jack-o’-lantern. T:Good.It is a jack-o’-lantern. Listen and say.(tape) , jack-o’-lantern…… Ps: Jack-o’-lantern…… T:Who can say “jack-o’-lantern”? P1: P2: ……………………….. T:Is it a jack-o’-lantern? Ps:Yes, it is.(one by one) T:Good. Is it a pumpkin? Ps:No ,it isn’t. T:Let’s read together. Ps: Is it a jack-o’-lantern? Yes, it is. Is it a pumpkin? No ,it isn’t. T:Great! What is made of ?Do you know? Ps: T:Yes.It is made of pumpkin. (write down on the blackboard.) Let’s read it. It is made of pumpkin. Ps: It is made of pumpkin.(twice) Expand : PPT: A: A card is made of paper.. B: Zongzi are made of rice. C:Easter eggs are made of eggs. Purpose: To further consolidate the sentence patterns: Is it... .? Yes, it is. / No, it isn 't at the same time through expanding practice through a difficulty, be made of a certain basis for the study of the text. 设计意图:进一步巩固句型:Is it….? Yes, it is./ No, it isn’t. 同时通过拓展练习突破一个难点:be made of,为课文的学习奠定一定基础。 T:What is this?(那出一张bat的图片,放在近处,指着问) Ps:It is a bat., T:Good.It is a bat.Listen and read, bat…….. Ps:Bat…….. T:Can you say the word? Ps:Yes, I can . T:Who can try? P1: P2: ……………….. T:What colour is the bat? Ps:It’s black. T:Good,it is black. T: Is this a bat ? Ps: Yes, it is. (one by one) T:Is this a bird ? Ps:No, it isn’t. (one by one) T:Good. Let’s read together. Ps: Is this a bat ? Yes, it is. Is this a bird ? No, it isn’t. Purpose: Learning new words: bat and new sentence patterns: Is this... ? By referring to a nearby object, let the students perceive this meaning. 设计意图:学习新单词:bat和新句型:Is this…?通过指近处的物体,让学生感知this的含义。 T:Listen,what is it?(PPT) Ps: T:Good.It is a ghost.Listen and say, ghost…………..(拿出面具,并做出害怕的动作) Ps:Ghost………… T: :Can you say the word? Ps:Yes, I can . T:Who can try? P1: P2: ……………….. T:What colour is the ghost? Ps:White. T:Yes, the ghost is white.It’s white. T:Look, what are they? Ps:Ghosts. T:Yes,they are ghosts.I am afraid of ghosts.Are you afraid of ghosts?(write down “I’m afraid of ghosts.” on the blackboard.) Ps:Yes,I am. T: Are you afraid of ghosts? P1: T: I am afraid of ghosts,too. T: Are you afraid of ghosts? Ps: T:Oh, so am I. Expand : PPT: A:She is afraid of bats. B:He is afraid of snakes. C:They are afraid of tigers. T: Is this a ghost Ps:Yes, it is. T:Is this a ghost ? Ps: No, it isn’t. T:Good. Let’s read together. Ps: Is this a ghost ? No, it isn’t. Purpose: through the mask, sound, movement, let students awareness and ghost the new words, at the same time through expanding practice through a difficulty, be afraid of, for the study of the text to lay a certain foundation. 设计意图:通过面具,声音,动作,让学生感知和学习ghost这个新单词,同时通过拓展练习突破一个难点:be afraid of,为课文的学习奠定一定基础。 T:Listen , is that a ghost?(PPT) Ps:No. T: What is that? No, it isn’t. Purpose: With sound and masks devil derivation the word, let the students in today's class is full of curiosity. By contrast, perception Is this... .. ? With Is that... .. ? The difference between. 设计意图:用声音和面具引出 devil这个新词,让学生对今天的课堂充满好奇。通过对比,感知Is this…..? 与Is that…..?的区别。 T:Listen, is that a devil?(PPT) Ps:No. T:Look,what is that? Ps:Witch. Purpose: Clown the word seems to be no association with today's class, but now that appear in the textbook should be trying to fit in. So, I wear with a mask on his face, the role of a funny, in the relaxed happy atmosphere to learn the new words, teaching pattern and further practice today. 设计意图:clown 这个词似乎和今天的课堂没有联系,但既然出现在课本上就应该想办法融入进去。因此,我用面具戴在自己脸上,扮演一个滑稽的角色,在轻松愉快的氛围中来学习这个新词,并进一步练习今天所教句型。 2.I can read. This link belongs to brainstorm type of training, students can speak out what they can read the new words, and give each group of points. 设计意图:通过猜,进一步全面巩固新单词,并纠正读音。这个环节属于头脑风暴式的训练,学生可以说出自己所能读的新词汇,并给予每组加分奖励。 2.What’s missing? T: Look. What’s missing? Ps: Purpose: Picture disappeared, the test students' ability to respond to and proficiency of new words 设计意图:图片瞬间消失,考验学生们的反应能力和对新词汇的熟练程度。 3.Play a magic game. Two pupils wear masks and then stand in front of the classroom.(背对着同学们)Pupil A asks : Is it/this/that a ghost? Pupil B answers: Yes, it is. / No, it isn’t. Purpose: Through the game, to consolidate the new sentence patterns we have learned today, train students' ability in oral expression, and to give bonus awards. 设计意图: 通过游戏,巩固今天所学新句型,训练学生的口头表达能力,并给予加分奖励。 4.Fill in the blanks. T:Take out your paper,and fill in the blanks by yourself. Ps: T:Have you finished ? Ps: T:Number 1, who can try? P1: T:Yes or no? Ps:Yes. T:Good. _Halloween_____ is a very old festival(古老的节日) . …………………………………….. Purpose: The integrated use of new words and new knowledge we learned today. 设计意图:综合运用今天所学新词汇和新知识。 Step 4: Know the history of Halloween. (watch the video) T:Do you know the history of Halloween? Ps: T:Let’s watch the video. Purpose: By watching video, understand the origin of Halloween, increase students' knowledge of the western holiday Halloween, at the same time penetrating students' cross-cultural awareness. 设计意图:通过观看视频,了解万圣节的来历,增加学生对万圣节这个西方节日的了解,同时渗透学生的跨文化意识。 Step 5: Enjoy pictures about Halloween and play the game :Trick or Treat. T:Today children like the Halloween very much. Do you want to know more about Halloween? Ps: Yes, I do. T: Look , what do they do on Halloween? Ps: They make posters. T: Look , what do they do? Finally by playing was catnip or treat this game, today's class to a climax. Let the children wear masks, personally experience the mysterious festival. 设计意图:通过PPT图片,了解西方孩子怎样过他们喜欢的节日万圣节。最后通过玩Trick or treat这个游戏,把今天的课堂推向高潮。让孩子们带着面具,亲身体验一下这个神秘的节日。 Step 6. Homework: 1. Tell the story of Halloween to your parents.(You can speak in English or Chinese) 2 .Please finish your paper ,part 2,I can choose. T: Please take out your paper and finish. Look at the pictures ,read the sentences ,then choose the right answers. 3.Preview the “Let’s talk.” Purpose: Students to complete each topic, you can get a smiley face. Three questions are completed, you can get three smiling faces.
