Analysis of my teaching plan By He Yan( Shimian Secondary School) Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. It’s my great honor and pleasure to be here to share my lesson with you. I have been ready to begin this presentation with three parts. Analysis of the teaching material and the students, the teaching aims, and the teaching procedures. I: Teaching material & the students First, let me talk about the teaching material and the students. What I will teach is the first period of reading in Unit 4, Book 8A, Fun with English. The topic is the story of Xiwang. Before this lesson, the students have learnt some names of wild animals ,this helps the students come into the topic easily and naturally. As we all know, reading belongs to the input during the process of the language learning. The input has a great effect on output, such as speaking and writing. Therefore, we should put this lesson in an important position of this unit. If the Ss can master it well, it will be helpful for them to learn the rest of this unit. Based on the analysis of the teaching material, the teaching aims are set as follows: II: Teaching aims 1. Language objectives To learn some key words such as “bamboo leaves,bamboo shoots, survive,kill for fur,forest,take actions,protect” and so on to prepare for further reading 2. Skill objectives To get the main idea of the article and make sure the students know about the structure of the article by skimming and scanning. and make the students try to understand the intention of the writer by reading for details. 3.Learning strategies I will help the students use Prediction, skimming & scanning to read effectively. 4.Emotion objectives After reading , I will help students to foster the awareness of protecting the wild animals. Among those items, the most three important things are 1.the key words,phrases and sentences 2.the main idea of the article 3. The intention of the writer But how to help the students get the main idea and the intention is very difficult, So I will guide the students to use effective reading strategies to scan the text, solve problems and complete different tasks. III: Teaching procedures I divide my teaching steps into three parts: Pre-reading, While-reading and Post-reading. Step One : Pre-reading Task 1warm-up: (2 Minutes) (A guessing game)Review some words about animals . Task 2: lead in (1 Minutes) I will show a picture about a baby giant panda like a mouse to attract students’ interest. What am I? A mouse ? I look like a mouse. But I am not a mouse. I am a panda. I am a giant panda. The purpose is to arouse Ss’ interest in this lesson. Task 3:learn some key words (10minutes) Show some pictures of giant pandas to learn new words and phrases in a real language atmosphere. Step Two:While-reading . There are three tasks. Task 1:Skimming .(2 Minutes) In this part, Answer these questions below: 1. What’s the story about? 2. What will happen to giant pandas if we do nothing? Check the answers together. Task 2:Scanning (3minutes) In this part, Read and match Paragraph1---3 the actions to protect pandas Paragraph4---6 the growth of Xi Wang Paragraph7---8 the problems that pandas have Task 3:Reading for details( 15minutes) 1. Read paragraph1--3 the growth of Xiwang Exercise on page 61 2.Read paragraph4--6 the problems of Pandas read and answer 3.Read paragraph 7---8: The actions to protect pandas read and fill in the blanks Step 3.Post-reading(11minutes) Task : Do some exercises to consolidate (7minutes) Summery: (5minutes) After that , I will lead students to know that wild animals are our friends ,but they are in danger now. We should take actions to protect them. As for homework, students should finish off Part D & E after class. This is my blackboard design: Most of the language points are on my PPT. On the blackboard is the record of the students’ competition. Group 1, Group2, group 3 Scores: Finally, let me have a summary. During my teaching, I’ll try my best to get the class alive and encourage Ss to cooperate and communicate with each other. So much for my teaching plan. Thank you for listening! 5
