Dictionary is very important for our study. What can we find when we use an English-Chinese or an English-English dictionary?
Definition(释义). The first things in a dictionary that people think of are definitions. A word sometimes has more than one definition. We should choose a proper one according to our need.
Spelling. If you are not sure about the correct spelling of one word, you can look it up in a dictionary. Dictionaries have guide words. Guide words are on the top of each page. The first guide word is the first word on a page. Use the guide words, and you can find the word you are looking for easily.

    To swim across the English Channel takes at least nine hours. It’s hard work and it makes you short of breath.
