M: I can't decide if I should go to the beach or the mountains. I love the beach, but I go there every year. And it's always so busy right now in the summer. I want to go somewhere different. I haven't been to the mountains, but it'll be cold up there even at this time of year.
W: Why don't you go to a lake? I went to one last fall and loved it. It's different from the beach and doesn't have crowds of people. And it will still be warmer right now than going up into the mountain areas.
M: Good idea! I'll do that. Now what do I do?
W: Now we need to find a hotel for you to stay. Then we'll get onto the other things.

A
Step into Moving to Mars, an exhibition of Mars mission and colony design at London's Design Museum, and immediately you have good reasons not to move there.
Frightening glowing walltexts announce that Mars wasn't made for you, and that there is no life and precious little water, and that, dressed in a spacesuit, you will never touch, taste or smell the planet you now call “home”. As Lisa Grossman wrote for New Scientist a couple of years ago, “What's different about Mars is that there is nothing to do there except try not to die.”
It is an odd beginning for such a celebratory exhibition, but it provides a valuable, dark background against which the rest of the show can sparkle (闪耀)—a show that is,as its chief manager Justin remarks,“not about Mars; this is an exhibition about people.”
Moving along, there is a quick yet clear flash through what the science fiction writer Robinson calls “the history of Mars in the human mind”. A Babylonian clay tablet and a Greek vase speak to early ideas about the planet. A poster for the original Total Recall film reminds us of Mars's psychological threat.
The main part of the show is our current plans for the Red Planet. There are real spacesuits and models of 3Dprinted Martian settlements and suitable clothing and furniture. Mission architectures and engineering sketches line the walls. Real hammers meant for the International Space Station are wallmounted beside a lowgravity table that has yet to leave, and may indeed never leave, Earth.
This, of course, is the great strength of approaching science through design: reality and assumption can be given equal visual weight, drawing us into an informed conversation about what it is that we actually want from a future on Mars.
( D )21.What is the text mainly about?
A.How to move to Mars.
B.How to survive on Mars.
C.What preparations we made for Mars.
D.What the exhibition of Mars truly tells us.
( A )22.What can we learn from Lisa Grossman?
A.It's impossible to live on Mars.
B.It's no good settling on Mars.
C.You have nothing to do living on Mars.
D.You can live on Mars in a spacesuit.
( A )23.What does the exhibition focus on?
A.The current plans for Mars.
B.The advantages of living on Mars.
C.The early ideas about Mars.
D.The history of Mars in the human mind.
根据第二段中“As Lisa Grossman wrote for New Scientist a couple of years ago, ‘What's different about Mars is that there is nothing to do there except try not to die.’”(就像Lisa Grossman几年前为《新科学家》写的那样,“火星的不同之处在于,人类除了努力地活着之外,在那里什么也做不了。”) 故选A。
根据第五段中“The main part of the show is our current plans for the Red Planet.”(展览的主要部分是我们目前对“红色星球”的计划)可知,展览的重点是关于火星目前的计划。故选A。

In the distant past, our ancestors relied on stars to guide them on a clear night. Today, we have navigational(导航的)systems to help us find our way, the latest of which is the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System(BDS).
The BDS is entirely built by Chinese engineers. With the launch of the last satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre on June 23, the global network of 59 satellites has been completed. On July 31, BeiDou started providing services covering our whole planet.
It's difficult to imagine the great influence those satellites have on our daily lives. When you unlock one of Hellobike's bicycles, you are using the BDS. “The intelligent lock on each bike receives BeiDou satellite signals and sends positioning information to the data centre which will help collect big data on the bikes and predict users' riding needs in advance according to the data,” Chu Yiqun, a manager of Hellobike mentioned. Users can also find shared bikes more accurately(精确地) thanks to BeiDou's global positioning accuracy of 2.34 metres.
BeiDou adopts a unique twoway communication system, including its ability to receive messages sent by people from areas with poor communication signals. Obviously this function isn't designed for users to chat online. Instead, it plays a role when disasters occur and communications are blocked.
After the Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008, all groundbased communication facilities were interrupted. Though the first generation of BeiDou could only send 120 characters in a single message at that time, communication between affected areas and rescue centres was successful. Now, BeiDou's messaging ability has been increased to 1,200 Chinese characters in a single message. It is widely used in disaster alarms, automatic identification and information release.
As Sun Jiadong, former chief designer of the BDS said, “The__application__of__BeiDou__is__only__limited__by__imagination.”
( B )24.Why does the author mention Hellobike in Paragraph 3?
A.To stress the excellent positioning ability of the BDS.
B.To show how the BDS makes people's daily lives easier.
C.To present the advantages and disadvantages of the BDS.
D.To explain how the BDS works.
( A )25.What is Beidou's twoway communication system designed for?
A.To help people when communication signals are poor.
B.To make users' daily communication more fun.
C.To allow users to chat online more freely.
D.To collect data from users for the data centre.
( A )26.What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean?
A.BeiDou may be more helpful than we know.
B.BeiDou inspires users' imagination.
C.BeiDou needs to be further improved.
D.BeiDou is limited in application.
第三段中提到“It's difficult to imagine the great influence those satellites have on our daily lives.”(很难想象这些卫星对我们日常生活的巨大影响);下文举出Hellobike的例子,“When you unlock one of Hellobike's bicycles, you are using the BDS.”(当你解锁其中一辆Hellobike自行车时,你就使用了北斗系统)和“Users can also find shared bikes more accurately(精确地) thanks to Beidou's global positioning accuracy of 2.34 metres.”(由于北斗全球卫星定位精度可达到2.34米,用户还可以更准确地找到共享自行车)。
根据第四段中“BeiDou adopts a unique twoway communication system, including its ability to receive messages sent by people from areas with poor communication signals.”(北斗系统采用独特的双向通信系统,能够接收来自通信信号较差地区的人们发送的信息)和“it plays a role when disasters occur and communications are blocked. ”(当灾难发生、通讯中断时,它就会发挥作用)可知,北斗双向通信系统是为了在通信信号不好或者信号中断时帮助人们。故选A。
故选A。

China's historic 23day Chang'e 5 mission has not only obtained precious rock and soil samples from the moon, but has also brought back a group of seeds that travelled the furthest in the nation's agricultural and forestry histories. More than 30 kinds of seeds, including that of rice, oats etc., were placed inside the multimodule Chang'e 5 spacecraft and orbited around the moon for about 15 days.
Scientists wished to check what would happen to the seeds after being exposed to extraterrestrial(地外的) forces in lunar orbit and also hoped that they could develop beneficial mutations(突变). This mission offered good opportunities to scientists, which enabled them to deepen their studies on the effect of cosmic rays on the growth and evolution of life on Earth.
Spacebased mutation breeding refers to the process of exposing seeds to forces such as microgravity, vacuums and cosmic radiation during a spaceflight and then sending them back to Earth for further observation and planting. Researchers observe and examine several generations of plants grown from spacebred seeds and investigate their mutations—some are positive and desirable while others are negative. Those with positive mutations will be kept and analysed, and will be introduced to farmers after their certification and approval.
Space breeding can generate mutations faster and more conveniently than groundbased experiments and can bring about some desirable traits that are otherwise hard to introduce. Compared with natural or conventionally bred types of plants, spacedeveloped versions with positive mutations usually feature higher nutritional content, greater annual yields, shorter growth periods and better resistance to disease
