1、The Olympic Games 阅读课教学设计 湖北省荆州中学 覃 婧(一)学生分析我所教的高一(1)班是文科平行班,学生英语基础一般,但他们有强烈的好奇心和求知欲,同时也能够了解英语学习的特点,认识到学习英语的重要性,也具备了一定的语言技能,所以经过第一模块的学习,随着对新老师和新环境的适应,小组合作逐渐培养了默契,学生都愿意参与到课堂活动中,而且效果也越来越好。本单元的中心话题“奥运会”是学生们较感兴趣的话题,北京奥运会的成功举办也让全国人们振奋,更激发同学们投入更大的热情学习英语,一方面,了解奥运和西方文化,另一方面,也希望自己有一天能作为志愿者为奥运服务。因此,学生在课堂会积极参与
2、,从而达到本课的阅读目的。(二)教材分析 阅读部分通过一个虚拟的采访两千年前古希腊作家与一个中国当代女孩的对话,让学生了解古代和现代奥运会的异同及奥运会的一些基本情况。那么,我们可以把热身部分和阅读合成一个课时,可布置学生课前利用各种资源查找奥运会的相关知识,在课堂上通过quiz的形式,让学生了解现代和古代奥运会的相关知识,以此来激发学生阅读的兴趣,对奥运会做更多的了解。文章的设计给学生创造了语言环境,因此,教师可适当增加开放性的任务,让学生模仿课文进行简单的采访,还可问一些关于北京奥运的情况,在检查学生是否完成了阅读任务的同时,也提高学生用所学知识进行交际的能力,培养他们的奥运精神和爱国情操
3、。(三)教学目标通过这个部分的学习,让学生了解古代和现代奥运会的一些基本情况,同时积累有关奥运会的词汇和表达法。在阅读方面,让学生了解进一步熟悉掌握一些阅读技巧,比如课前预测快速找文章细节归纳总结。学生完成阅读任务后,让学生利用课文提供的信息和所了解的北京奥运知识进行简单的采访,并讨论花大量人力、财力、物力举办奥运会是否值得,激发学生的爱国情怀,培养学生积极奋进的人生态度,鼓励学生关注奥运,关注中国,关注世界,同时让他们了解举办奥运会的不易,以此教育学生做任何事都需要付出努力。(四) 教学策略 为更好地完成教学任务和目标,布置学生课前搜集一些关于奥运会的知识。在课堂上,采用多媒体的教学手段,向
4、学生展示奥运会的一些图片,活跃气氛,提高教学效果。阅读方面,通过任务性教学,小组活动和竞赛的形式,培养学生阅读能力,发展学生的语言运用能力。(五)教学过程 Step 1 Leading-in (4 mins)1. The teacher plays a part of the theme song of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and let the students say what purpose it is used for.T: Have you ever heard of the song? I think everyone is very familia
5、r with it. What is the name? What is it used for?(Answer: “You and me” and it is used for the Beijing Olympics.)2. They are asked to have a quiz about the Olympics. Each correct answer may gain 1 point for their own groups. Then show them some pictures (Emblem会徽, Motto口号, Torch火炬, Mascot吉祥物, Stadium
6、 体育馆, The Olympic flag, etc). When referring to different mascotsin different countries, such as, the friendliness, Athena and Waldi, ask students why different countries choose different mascots.(Answer: The Olympic Games are changing with time and vary from country to country.)设计说明:通过北京奥运主题曲引入话题,使

8、00 years ago and a girl, Li Yan a volunteer for the 2008 Olympic Games. Make a prediction about their interview.T: Now were going to read an interview. Pausanias (an interviewer), who was a Greek writer 2,000 years ago, is now interviewing a girl, Li Yan (an interviewee), a volunteer for the 2008 Ol
9、ympic Games via a magical journey. Guess what they are talking about? What questions will he ask the girl?(Possible answers: When and where are the 2008 Olympic Games held? Read the passage to find out the similarities and differences of the ancient and modern Olympics.Similarities: Both are held every four years. (frequency) Both are held not for money but for honor.

16、 Discussion (8 mins)1. Ask students what the future Olympic Games will be like. After their discussion, we can make a conclusion that the Olympics are changing all the time, but the spirit of the Olympics will never be changed, which is the motto of the Olympics-Swifter, higher and stronger.2. As we
17、 all know, despite the fact that it will take many years and much money to bid and host the Olympics, more and more countries have a strong wish to host it. So let students discuss the question in groups: Why do many countries want to host the Olympics while others do not? Do you think it is worthwh

In a word, it has more advantages than disadvantages. So the host country can benefit a lot from hosting the

Ask students what theyve learned in the period.2. Tell students that the text weve learnt today is an interview between two
21、 speakers in a conversational style. One is Pausanias (an interviewer), a Greek writer 2000 years ago; the other is LiYan (an interviewee), a Chinese volunteer for the 2008 Olympic Games. So todays homework is to change it into a narrative style. In other words, please describe the ancient and moder
22、n Olympic Games in our own words. If time permits, let students learn “You and me” together.设计说明:让学生进行反思,从本课中究竟学到了什么。同时,鼓励学生关注奥运,关注中国,关注世界,奋发向上,积极进取。最后,布置学生用叙述的文体写一篇古代奥运和现代奥运的异同,以此来巩固本课所学的内容。(六)教学反思1. 成功之处 通过北京奥运会的主题曲引入本课的学习,学生的情绪很高,气氛很活跃。同时,用小组讨论双人表演等形式,鼓励学生不仅为小组荣誉而且为自己的课堂表现得分大胆参与,也达到了很好的效果,还体现了新课标
23、下的形成性评价;利用多媒体展示奥运知识,极大地调动了学生的兴趣。开始阶段以北京奥运的福娃,雅典奥运的雅典娜费沃斯和第一届奥运会的瓦尔迪等吉祥物,启发了学生意识到本课的主要内涵:奥运会随着时间和举办国的不同而不断变化,而精神是永远不变的。引入主题后,通过看图片和标题,大胆预测课文内容,再组织学生迅速扫读课文,指导学生如何提炼文章大意。提醒学生这是一篇采访,着重看所提的问题就能弄清文章主旨大意。在阅读过程中,就文章主题进行细节分析,利用表格降低难度,让所有的学生都能参与进来,再提出相应的问题让其讨论,体会采访者的情感。随后设计的简短采访使学生的情绪达到高潮,他们在模仿的同时,我们可以清楚感受到采访
24、者的情感变化和学生们的表演才华,有效地培养了他们的语言运用能力和交际能力。结合实际,北京奥运会成功举办,让世界了解了中国,增进了各国的文化交流,但消耗了大量的人力物力和财力,举办奥运会到底是否值得?未来的奥运会将是什么样子的?通过此环节的讨论,一方面让学生更加关注奥运会,培养学生的奥运精神和奋发的积极态度,同时让他们感受到举办一届成功的奥运会不是那么容易,教育他们做任何事都需要艰苦的努力,鼓励他们学好英语,做奥运志愿者为其服务。另一方面,为本单元的语法将来时的被动语态做好铺垫。事实证明,本单元的语法学得很顺利,学生的作文整体情况也很好,本节课让学生收获很多。所以,个人认为这节课不仅培养了学生的阅读能力和语言运用能力,还充分挖掘了教材所体现的情感因素,培养了学生的情感态度,帮助他们树立了正确的人生价值观,达到了教书育人的目的。总的来说,是一节高效课。2. 不足之处 本节课容量大,在分析理解课文时,可适当解释个别难句,让更多的学生充分理解课文,也为后面的表演创造更好的条件。另外,学生基础一般,还应多鼓励他们参与表演,有些学生依然表达困难,用汉语进行思维的情况较多,今后的教学中应加强对他们的训练。
