Play a video about 2012 Olympic Games in London and ask Ss to speak out the Olympic sports in it. 2. Show some signs of the sports and let Ss speak out the names of the sports. 3. Ask Ss to listen to a dialogue and number the sports as they hear the sports. 4. Ask Ss which sport they like better? And Why? 5. Show Ss Tony’s six ideas in activity two on Page32 and ask Ss to match the sentences with the pictures. 6. Show Ss Betty’s opposite ideas to Tony’s and let Ss understand the words with the opposite meanings. 1. Watch the video and talk about the sports they see in the video. 2. Look at the signs and speak out the names of them. 3. Listen to the dialogue and number the sports they hear. 4. Ss express their ideas about the sports they like and the reasons. 5. Read the sentences and match the pictures with them. 6. Look at the opposite ideas of Betty and Tony and understand the words with opposite meanings. 1. Lead in the topic of Olympic adventure and Olympic sports 2. Get to know the new words and get ready for the following listening part. 10’ While-listening First listening: 1. Ask Ss to listen to the dialogue and check the sports mentioned in the dialogue. 2. Call back the answers from the students. 1. Listen to the dialogue and check the sports as they hear them. 2. Show their answers. Listen for the general idea of the dialogue. 4’ Second listening: 1. Lead Ss to listen to the dialogue again and choose the right answer of Betty’s ideas. 2. Call back the answers from the students. 1. Listen to the dialogue again and choose the right answer about Betty’s ideas. 2. Check the answers with their partners and present their answers. 1. To get the detailed information in the dialogue. 2. To experience the use of comparative adjectives. 6’ Third listening: 1. Ask Ss to listen to the dialogue the third time and check the true sentences about Daming’s ideas. 2. Call back the answers from the students. 1. Listen to the dialogue the third time, check the true sentences and correct the wrong sentences. 2. Check the answers with their partners and present their answers. 1. Still to get more detailed information in the dialogue. 2. Experience more about the use of comparative adjectives. 4’ Post-listening Ask Ss make a card about their favourite Olympic sport and compare their favourite sport with another two sports by using “more…than” Make cards by themselves and present their cards in front of the class. Know how to express their own ideas about sports and compare different sports with “more…than” 16’
