What is art?
What is art? It can be an easy question but also can be a difficult question. Maybe different people will have different answers. For teachers, teaching may be an art. Most of them think that teaching is holy. Through the teaching, they can influence the growth of their students’. For scientists, science may be an art. They can get a lot of fun from the scientific research. For painters, painting may be an art. Painting can make them free and they can express their feelings through painting. For those people, art is something they like and pursue. They enjoy it and pay a lot of attentions to it.
In the dictionary, there are many interpretations about art. The arts are activities such as music, painting, literature, cinema, and dance, which people can take part in for enjoyment, or to create works which express serious meanings or ideas of beauty. Art is the crystallization of human wisdom. Art is created for people to look at and admire or think deeply about. Art needs imagination and creation. Art can arouse the people's desire for an elegant life.
Art is a wonderful thing. It has many sorts and forms. For example, music and painting are two of my favorite arts. And impressionism is my favorite artistic style. I think that it is very enjoyable for me to join the impressionistic art world. Impressionistic paintings have their special and meticulous manifestation modes. Most of impressionists need an outdoor environment to create their works. But they often spent a lot of time on their works because the outdoor environment was changeable. Impressionism emphasizes realistic. It is not abstract and avant-garde. We can feel the natural beauty through some impressionistic paintings. I think that impressionistic paintings are very free. Impressionists use the simple colors to show us a wonderful world. People such as Monet, Pissarro and Cezanne are the famous painters of impressionism. Among them, I like Monet best. Because Monet’s landscape painting always makes people associate a lot of. He specializes in experimental and performance techniques of light and shadows. His excellent work Sunrise Impression is the best proof.
Besides, impressionistic music is also pleasing. Though I like to listen to the pop music, I think that impressionistic music is a good choice for me. According to the impressionistic music, harmony is very important. It can make the music more exclusive. I really enjoy listening to it because it is very interesting. It can improve my taste in music. And Debussy is one of my favorite composers. As a composer, Debussy held the pivotal status in the western music history. He has a great influence on my music learning. Debussy’s piano writing with the impression that the poet’s poetry has a variety of links. His songs make me feel comfortable. Though his songs, I can imagine a poetic picture. They are so fascinating.
What is art? Sometimes art is abstract, just like painting. Though we can not understand it clearly, we can be attracted by its glamour. Sometimes art is concrete, just like music. We can have a responsive chord from its lyrics or melodies. This is art, which can enrich our spiritual life.
