To answer these questions, you may need an encyclopaedia. An encyclopaedia is a book with facts on topics in every field of knowledge. Which one should you choose? Encyclopaedia Britannica is a good choice(选择).
It is the oldest and largest English-language encyclopaedia in the world. It was first published in the 18th century in Scotland. Many people think it is the best encyclopaedia.
From the 18th century to the early 20th century, articles in Encyclopaedia Britannica were long and hard to understand. It soon became the favorite encyclopaedia of scholars (学者). But later, more and more common people began to use Encyclopaedia Britannica because the articles became shorter and easier to read.
