WHERE can you see some of the most beautiful gardens in the world? The UK!
Every spring, there is the Chelsea Flower Show in London. It is one of the most popular garden and flower shows in the world. People show off their creativity (创造力) with trees and flowers.
But you don’t have to be an expert to garden. Anyone can do it. This is why in Britain helping with the gardening is popular with kids.
As a child my dad was the “master” (大师) of the garden. He often asked me to help him with the outdoor work. He would mow the lawn (修剪草坪) as I watered the trees and plants.
Gardening is more interesting than indoor housework. It is relaxing as you hear the birds sing. It is also great to see flowers grow from a small seed (种子) into a big plant. This teaches kids patience (耐心) and dedication (奉献): two useful skills for life.

Japan
Take off your shoes before you go into someone’s home. Most Japanese families put tatami mats (榻榻米席) on their floors. It is difficult to clean when they are dirty. You should wear indoor slippers (拖鞋).
Like we Chinese, Japanese also think it is not good to place your chopsticks (筷子) upright (直立的) in your rice bowl. That’s because people always do this for funerals (葬礼). You should just put your chopsticks beside your bowl.
Singapore
Stand on the left side when you take an escalator (扶梯). The right side is for people who are in a rush (着急). This is different from what we know in China.
Never chew gum (嚼口香糖) here. It is banned (禁止) in the country. It hopes to keep the country clean. Also, it is not OK to bring gum into Singapore. Don’t forget to leave your gum at home before you go to the country.

ON Oct 23, students from Thunderbolt Middle School in the US enjoyed their school’s career (职业) day.
Mike Suminski, the lineman (电路工) of the town, gave a speech. He made a big model (模型) of the district’s power lines. He showed where the lines went and why it was dangerous to fly a kite into them.
“Now I understand why we should only fly the kites in the park,” one of the students said after he saw an example of a real spark (火花).

DO you know Eddie Peng? He is a handsome actor. He plays general Wei Wuji in the popular TV drama Sound of the Desert (《风中奇缘》). It tells a love story between Wei Wuji and a girl named Xin Yue during the Southern Dynasties (420-589). He also plays the kung fu artist Wong Fei-hung in Rise of the Legend (《黄飞鸿之英雄有梦》). The movie hit Chinese theatres on Nov 21.
Peng, 32, is a fit guy with a big smile. He is hardworking. Every time he plays a role (角色), he tries his best to fit the character.
