Visitors worry that London is an expensive city but there really are so many free things to do here. The following ideas should get you started.
All of London's major museums are free, but most offer some special exhibitions for a fee. My favorite is the Museum of London where you can learn the history of London from Roman times to today. And I love the Geffrye Museum which shows English domestic interiors and helps bring to life what it was really like to live in London.
I regularly hear people tell me the Queen Mary's Rose Gardens in Regent's Park is their favorite spot in London, and who am I to argue? I would also recommend St. James's Park as it offers one of the best views of Buckingham Palace. Hyde Park is enormous and Kensington Gardens nearby includes the ever popular Diana Memorial Playground and the Peter Pan Statue.
No visit to London is complete without seeing this military tradition. The Queen's Guard in London changes in the Forecourt inside the gates of Buckingham Palace at 11:30 am every day in the summer and every other day in the winter. Get there early and view the spectacle from outside the front gates.
Trafalgar Square is one of Britain's greatest visitor attractions and was designed by John Nash in the 1820s and constructed in the 1830s. This iconic square has many sights to see including Nelson's Column and the National Gallery. It is both a tourist attraction and the main focus for political demonstrations. Every December, Norway donates a marvelous Christmas tree, to thank Britain for liberation from the Nazis.

I don't think I can recall a time when I wasn't aware of the beauty of the ocean. Growing up in Australia, I had the good fortune of having the sea at my side. The first time I went to Halfmoon Bay, I_suddenly_had_the_feeling_of_not_being_able_to_feel_the_ground_with_my_feet_anymore.
For my 10th birthday, my sister and I were taken out to the Great Barrier Reef. There were fish in different colors, caves and layers of coral. They made such an impression on me. When I learned that only 1 percent of Australia's Coral Sea was protected, I was shocked. Australian marine (海洋的) life is particularly important because the reefs have more marine species than any other country on earth. But sadly, only 45% of the world's reefs are considered healthy.
This statistic is depressing, so it's important for us to do everything to protect them. The hope that the Coral Sea remains a complete ecosystem has led me to take action. I've become involved with the Protect Our Coral Sea activity, which aims to create the largest marine park in the world. It would serve as a place where the ocean's species will all have a safe place forever.
Together, Angus and I created a little video and we hope it will inspire people to be part of the movement. Angus also shares many beautiful childhood memories of the ocean as a young boy, who grew up sailing, admiring the beauty of the ocean, and trying to find the secrets of ocean species.

Ⅱ 读后续写
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
It was in New Hampshire. Cody was an 11yearold boy. Just like other boys, he enjoyed running around the lake,_and sometimes picked yellow daisies for his mother's kitchen table along the path. But the thing he liked best was fishing. He went fishing whenever he had got a chance from the dock (船坞) at his family's cabin on an island in the middle of the lake and he was proud of his fishing skills.
On the day before that year's bass (鲈鱼) season opened, he and his father were fishing early in the evening, catching sunfish and perch with worms. Then he tied on a small silver lure (诱饵) and practiced casting. The lure struck the water, stirring up colored ripples (波纹) in the sunset, and then silver ripples as the moon rose over the lake. It was an unusually quiet evening. The gentle breeze from the lake was so refreshing.
After what seemed a long time, Cody noticed his fishing pole doubled over and he knew at once that something huge was on the other end. His father watched with admiration as the boy skillfully worked the fish alongside the dock.
Finally, he very carefully lifted the exhausted fish from the water. It was the largest one he had ever seen, but it was a bass.
The boy and his father looked at the handsome fish, gilts playing back and forth in the moonlight. The father lit a match and looked at his watch. It was 10 pm—two hours before the season opened. He looked at the bass, then at Cody.
“You'll have to put the fish back, son,” he said.
“Dad!”cried the boy.
“There will be other fish,” said his father gently but firmly.
“Not as big as this one,” cried the boy again.

Paragraph 1:
Cody looked around. No other men were fishing anywhere around the lake. He glanced again at his father. Even though no one had seen them, nor could anyone ever know what time he caught the fish, the boy could tell by the firmness in his father's voice that the decision was final. He slowly worked the hook out of the lip of the huge bass and lowered it into the black water. The creature swished its body and disappeared. The boy sighed at the ripples left by such an awesome fish.
Paragraph 2:
Do we do right when no one is looking? Do we stop at the red light when the street is empty? Or refuse to cheat in an examination when there is no teacher watching? We would if we were taught to put the fish back when we were young. It is a story we will tell our friends and grandchildren with pride. Not about how we took advantage of someone or something, but about how we resisted a big lure when no one was watching and we're forever strengthened.
