以下是英语电影的名称及内容简介:
A.Birth of a Nation
Birth of a Nation was the most popular film of the silent era.The message in the film was that African Americans could never be integrated into the white society as equals.Race violence directed against African Americans took place in many cities. In the South,African Americans were only allowed to go to separate schools, hotels, and restaurants.
B.Gone with the Wind
Gone with the Wind was the costliest and most popular film of Hollywood’s Golden Era.Producer David Selznick had promised that the film would be free of any antiNegro ideas.Although it did not use white actors in blackface, like Birth of a Nation, its picture of enslaved African Americans as loyal but scatterbrained house servants and clumsy field hands was what the white thought the black ought to be then.
C.Glory
Glory offers a powerful retelling of the story of the first black regiment (团) during the American Civil War.Half the regiment’s men were killed or wounded in the war,but it dramatically demonstrated the courage of African American troops in battle. However, the film failed to describe the larger historical context of the Civil War.
D.Amistad
The Steven Spielberg’s film is about a historical event. In 1839,a group of Africans were captured and shipped to the Spanish colony of Cuba.During transshipment to nearby sugar plantations,53 slaves overpowered the crew. The captives then ordered the two men who had purchased them to navigate the ship toward Africa. At night, however, the men sailed the ship northward and westward. The case ultimately went to the Supreme Court. In 1841,the Court freed the captives.
E.Beloved
The film is based on Margaret Garner’s story of killing her own twoyearold daughter Mary.Margaret Garner said that she had intended to kill her other children rather than see them returned to slavery. She later explained that she wanted to “end their sufferings” rather than see them returned to bondage and “murdered by piecemeal”.No other work has so powerfully examined the interior life of a former slave.
F.Schindler’s List
The film concerns the lives of a thousand Jews during World War Ⅱ.The film shows, unforgettably, how one man does makes a difference.Schindler proves that man’s morality and humanity are always alive.“Save one life, save the world entire.”The heavy tone and fearful atmosphere of the film are heightened by blackandwhite cinematography.

首先,请阅读下列应用文:
A. “Organic produce is always better,” Gold said. “The food is free of pesticides, and you are generally supporting family farms instead of large farms. And more often than not it is locally grown and seasonal, so it is more tasty.” Gold is one of a growing number of shoppers buying into the organic trend, and supermarkets across Britain are counting on more like him as they grow their organic food business.
B. Market research shows that Gold and others who buy organic food can generally give clear reasons for their preferences, but their knowledge of organic food is far from complete. For example, small amounts of pesticides can be used on organic products. And about three quarters of organic food in Britain is not local but imported to meet growing demand. “The demand for organic food is increasing by about one third every year, so it is a very fastgrowing market,”said Sue Flock, a specialist in this line of business.
C. Many cities around the world today are heavily polluted. Careless methods of production and lack of consumer demand for environmentallyfriendly products have contributed to the pollution problem. One result is that millions of tons of glass, paper, plastic and metal containers are produced, and these are difficult to get rid of.
D. However, today, more and more consumers are choosing “green” and demanding that the products they buy should be safe for the environment. Before they buy a product, they ask questions like these:“Will this shampoo damage the environment?”“Can this metal container be reused or can it only be used once?”
E. Only a few years ago, it was impossible to find green products in supermarkets, but now there are hundreds. Some supermarket products carry labels to show that the product is green. Some companies have made the manufacturing of clean and safe products their main selling point and emphasized it in their advertising.
F. The concern for a safer and cleaner environment is making companies rethink how they do business. No longer will the public accept the old attitude of “Buy it, use it, throw it away, and forget it.”The public pressure is on, and gradually business is cleaning up its act.

46. How I was struck by the clear water and fresh air in my childhood! But everything has changed, that is,the clear water and fresh air are nowhere to be found again as they were. Above all, a great deal of waste hardly rots away.
47. More and more people are beginning to have a good knowledge of the importance of a safer and cleaner environment, which in turn forces the business to be cleaned up.
48. Organic products are getting more and more popular among people, but we should know the fact that organic products might also have something to do with pesticides.
49. I am very much fond of growing some vegetables of my own in my small garden, for many vegetables on sale in markets are actually becoming more and more dangerous as a result of widespread pesticides.
50. Nowadays it is very convenient for consumers to find and buy green food in supermarkets as they are clearly marked.

1. According to Jon Ronson, the writer of the book, psychopaths are very charming, smart, easily bored and cruel. In the book, Ronson takes readers into the fascinating world of psychopaths by speaking to the experts and having amusing conversations with the psychopaths themselves.
2.This book is about a deeply funny story, as well as a deeply sad story—the great Nineties moment when a bunch of punk rock bands from Seattle accidentally blew up into the world's biggest noise. The author gives the unique chronicle (编年史) of how it all happened, and how it ended too soon. The book also makes readers appreciate how strange it was.
3.This is just one of the terrifying everyday tales of the body trade documented. It started out extremely well, with some fascinating stories about the trade in human body parts. It covers many different aspects of the “red market”, ranging from skeletons to blood, and even the giant business of collecting and selling human hair.
4.It's been reported that the author has often attracted as much attention as his cars. The book is partly a biography covering a very short portion of the author's own life—his second stint (任期) at General Motor(GM)—which recently ended after about a decade. However, it's more than a biography. It is also a view on what went wrong with the US car industry and US industry in general.
5.This is a great book for anyone who has an interest in science, or wants to see advances in medicine at greater rates that we've seen them so far. If a reader has teenagers with interests in science, he should have them read this book. It will inspire them to broaden their horizons beyond the typical research lab.
