第八讲 连词（Conjunction,缩写conj.）
一． 定义和作用
（1） 定义：连词又称连接词；它既没有独立、完整的词汇意义，也不能像名词、动词等实词那样可以单独担当任何句子成分；连词主要在词与词，词组与词组，分句与分句间起某种连接的作用，因此，它是一种地地道道的虚词（Empty word或Function word）。
二．分类和比较 分为 和 连词。
（1）表示并列选择的并列连词
1.and 和or ,表示“并且，和…”和“或者…”
口诀：and用于肯定句，or用于否定和疑问句。
A.并列结构中，and通常用于 句，or用于 句
判断句中and,or用法是否正确，正确OK，错误的请改正；
Ann likes fihs and chicken.
She doesn’t like fish and chicken.
There is no air and water in the moon.
There is no air or no water in the moon.
B.and和or连接并列性质 的物品和动作。（划出错误并改正）
He started to dance and singing.改正为：
I see two men sitting and talk there.改正为：
Can you speak English and talk there.改正为：
C．特殊用法：and,or,表示相应和相反的状况。
如：Use your head, you’ll find a way.(动动脑筋，你就会想出办法)
Study hard, you’ll fall in the exam.(努力学习，否则你考试会不及格)
2.both…and…和neither…nor…和either…or…
not only…..but(also)…和as well as…(都连接两者人或物)
both….and…意为 ；neither…nor…意为
either…or…意为 ；not only…but also…
如：Don’t move him. I you are doctors.
he his wife are doctors.
You may do it yourself leave it to me.
Mary can sing very well dance very well.

because 和so
because 语气强，表示客观必然的 ，一般用在句 或句
so表示结果，意为所以，因此…
如：--Why were you leave?

(3)表示条件的从属连词
if和unless
都表示条件，if用途广，意为 ，unless意为除非，等于if
如：You won’t catch the bus you hurry up(快点).
You don’t feel well, you shall go to the doctor.
(4)表示让步意义的从属连词
Though和although
Though和although意义都为 ，用法相同，只是
更正式些。
但是though/although和but不能在一个句子中 使用；
如： I live near the sea, I’m not a good swimmer.
=I live near the sea, I’m not a good swimmer.
Although it’s raining, are still working in the fields.
