2021高考英语(三月)乌鲁木齐市信息匹配、任务型及阅读理解训练(5)附答案
阅读下列短文, 从给的四个选项 (A、B、C和D) 中, 选出最佳选项。
The question of what children learn, and how they should learn, is continually being debated and redebated. Nobody dares any longer to defend the old system, the learning of lessons parrot-fashion, the grammar-with-a-whip system, which was good enough for our grandparents. The theories of modem psychology have stepped in to argue that we must understand the need of children. Children are not just small adults; they are children who must be respected as much.
Well, you may say, this is as it should be, a good idea. But think further. What happens? "Education" becomes the responsibility not of teachers, but of psychologists (心里学家). What happens then? Teachers worry too much about the psychological implications (示意) of their lessons, and forget about the subjects themselves. If a child dislikes a lesson, the teacher feels that it is his fault, not the child’s. So teachers worry whether history is "relevant" to modern young children. And do they dare to recount stories about violence? Or will this make the children themselves violent? Can they tell their classes about children of different races, or will this encourage racial hatred? Why teach children to write grammatical sentences? Verbal expression is better. Sums? Arithmetic? No: Real-life mathematical situations are more understandable.
You see, you can go too far. Influenced by educational theorists, who have nothing better to do than to write books about their ideas, teachers leave their teacher-training colleges filled with grand, psychological ideas about children and their needs. They make elaborate, sophisticated (精致的,简洁的) preparations and try out their "modem methods" on the long-suffering children. Since one "modem method" rapidly replaces another the poor kids will have had a good bellyful by the time they leave school. Frequently the modem methods are so sophisticated that they fail to be understood by the teachers, let alone the children; even more often, the relaxed discipline so essential for the " informal" feelings the class must have, prevents all but a handful of children from learning anything.
1. People do not dare defend the old system mainly because under the old system________.
A. too much grammar was taught to children
B. children were spoiled (宠坏)
C. children were treated as grown-ups
D. children were made to learn passively(被动的)
2. What view do the modem psychologists hold?
A. Children must be understood and respected.
B. Children are small adults and know what they need.
C. Children are better off without learning lessons.
D. Education of children is the responsibility of psychologists.
3. What happens when teachers pay too much attention to the psychology of their lessons?
A. They find that the children dislike the lessons.
B. They tend to blame students for their failure.
C. They do not pay enough attention to the actual lessons.
D. They no longer want to teach children history.
4. Grammatical sentences are regarded as unimportant because ________.
A. it is better to use verbs only
B. words are said out of natural feelings only
C. talking freely and naturally without sentences is a better form of expression
D. it is felt that formal grammar rules might cause unnatural expressions
5. According to the passage, the modern methods are understood by ________.
A. neither teachers nor pupils
B. only a handful of teachers and pupils
C. the more sophisticated teachers
D. everyone who enjoys the relaxed discipline of the informal classes。

Forget Twitter and Facebook, Google and the Kindle. Television is still the most influential medium around. Indeed ,for many of the poorest regions(地区)of the world, it remains the next big thing——finally becomes globally available. And that is a good thing, because the TV revolution is changing lives for the better.
Across the developing world, around 45% of families had a TV in 1995; by 2005 the number had climbed above 60%. That is some way behind the U.S. , where are more TVs than people, and where people now easily get access to the Internet. Five million more families in sub-Saharan Africa will get a TV over the next five years. In 2005 , after the fall of the Taliban(塔利班),which had outlawed TV, 1 in 5 Afghans had one. The global total is another 150 million by 2021——pushing the numbers to well beyond two thirds of families.
Television’s most powerful effect will be on the lives of women. In India, researchers Robert Jensen and Emily Oster found that when TVs reached villages, women were more likely to go to the market without their husbands’ approval and less likely to want a boy rather than a girl. They were more likely to make decisions over child health care. TV is also a powerful medium for adult education. In the Indian state of Gujarat, Chitrageet is a popular show that plays Bollywood songs with words in Gujarati on the screen. Within six months, viewers had made a small but significant(有意义的) improvement in their reading skills.
Too much TV has been associated with violence, overweight and loneliness. However, TV is having a positive influence on the lives of billions worldwide. K^S*5U.C

任务型读写(共10小题; 每小题1分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,依据所读内容在表格中的空白处填入恰当的单词。
留意:每个空格只填一个单词。
Art is an important part of education, not only on its own but in the rest of education as well. However, in this information age, advanced technology in school has gained more attention than art. Sometimes when the school has a tight budget, it is usually art rather than technology that becomes the first thing to be cut.
Anyway, the significance of art can't be ignored. First of all, in school it can help students develop a variety of life skills such as communication skills, problem solving skills and self- expression skills. Secondly, for high school students, those who arc involved in arts classes can have higher test scores. Besides, for some students, art seems to be motivation for coming to school because it’s a subject that they can outshine, which eventually balances their educational experience.
New technology surely offers many benefits to some aspects of education, making teaching and learning easier and more effective. For example, technology simplifies tasks that take much longer to do, like conducting research or finding information. But advanced technology has bad effects such as the risk of being overweight, tiredness and even potential mental health problems, while art doesn't. On the other hand, unlike art, no technology can develop students' critical (批判的) thinking skills and a creative mind, both of which can help them to find successful careers after they graduate. Furthermore, no technology can help students to learn to bear responsibility, develop their imagination and increase their confidence.
Generally, art should not be replaced with advanced technology in schools and the last thing to be cut out of school curriculum.
