One possible version：
As the saying goes, “honesty is the best policy”. I couldn’t agree more. We all seem to like clever people, and desperately want others to recognize our own cleverness. However, I hold on to the belief that we should be honest rather than clever when it comes to business or other deeds of humanity.
One of my friends came back from a job interview and told me he was accepted instead of the candidate who seemed to be cleverer than him in every aspect. The explanation was that the company thought he was more honest with himself because he admitted he had some shortcomings and should keep improving, while the candidate was drunk with cleverness and said he could handle everything.
In this modern world, every one craves for cleverness, but we should be aware of the higher value of honest. Only through honesty could we gain others’ trust. In fact, the cleverest way to handle is to be honest with ourselves as well as others.

One possible version：
As is shown in the chart, senior high school students spend less time reading as their grade rises. On average, students in Senior One spend 7 hours per week reading and those in Senior Two 4 hours. Much less time, only 2 hours, is devoted to reading by Senior Three students.
Reasons are various. For one thing, most students don't attach enough importance to outside reading. As a consequence, their reading time is often taken up by other activities. For another, with their grade becoming higher, they have more homework to do, leaving no spare time for reading. Most importantly, with the popularity of cell phones and computers, students spend more time playing games or surfing the Internet or chatting on the phone.
In my opinion, students should arrange adequate reading time to broaden their horizons. Meanwhile, teachers should encourage their students' outside reading by offering them a list of good books. As Francis Bacon puts it, “Reading makes a full man”. \ As Premier Li Keqiang puts it, books and reading have been essential in carrying forward human civilizations.
